I gave up watching HOP because of BK!

Saw an episode tonight where Mercedes met Browning's son. Who the hell would tell a newly employed cleaner all that, then sleep with them and then follow their lead to the hospital for something so major all in the space of an afternoon? It's so laughable it's entertaining, completely plot driven suspense of all reality

The sad thing for me is that he seems to have been brought in just because Kirkwood had no appreciation for Jim. The audience generally loved him and the relationship with Carmel but BK seems to have decided he knows better and axed them both and replaced it with shit. Two weeks was it? before Carmel moved on to Sonny. Hollyoaks need to stop with this crap. People grieve, they don't just replace the person they loved like that.”

i dont think kirkwood likes Devon, didnt he sack him from hollyoaks a few years ago, then when kirkwood went to work at eastenders, Devon was also working there as Billie, so kirkwood killed him off.

Yet he quite easily let her go in that taxi.....no kicking, no screaming, no emotion whatsoever!

And then believe them when they say the baby is already dead! So ridiculous!!

It was quite nice to have a 'normal quiet' exit I think which is a rareity in HO.

Oh, I didn't know he was the one that killed off Billie Jackson too. Bloody Kirkwood's obsessed with killing people off.

Agreed. Although I think Anna Shaffer deserved a better exit. They can't seem to give any character that isn't getting killed off a worthy exit now either.

And then believe the supposed cleaner was told by hospital authorities that the baby was dead. Utterly ridiculous. The show seems designed to be viewed by goldfish.

Did he really? I knew Pam St.Clements was angry that Pat was killed off but I didn't realise it was BK who was in charge at that time. Jeez, he's like the flippin Grim Reaper.

i was planning to give up watching after the climax of johnpauls storyline, but this is clearly going to be dragged out for all its worth and i dont think i want to invest any more time in this drivvel.

unless someone, somewhere can tell me its going to get better ?
is kirkwood leaving ??”

I agree. any depth and realism has gone. Characters changing overnight , stunts are great but London probably has less crime than hollyoaks village does. Good characters having rushed exits & crap actors & characters joining. Any good work for example Carmel & Jim undone & forgotten. Fans opinions are being ignored , characters we love underused those we hate shoved down our throats - for some Freddie , Sinead. For all of us Fraser , Grace , Vincent , Sonny.

I watch it out of habit really, can't say I really enjoy it. There will be a time when the old guard are gone though and I'll definitely stop watching then. Jack, Cindy, Darren, Tony and Nancy are mainly the characters who keep me watching. A newcomer barely lasts two years or is just completely shallow so it's hard to invest in new characters. Ridiculous cast cull deaths don't help either...

One other thing about it is the writing and scripts are also awful, Its not natural dialogue and theres no humour anymore and characters have lost thier spark and likeability.

Hi Sifter, I haven't seen you post for a while.

I agree completely. It's habit with me too, I don't enjoy it either. Does anybody really like any of the new characters? I'd much rather have kept the ones we had already instead of replacing them with poundshop versions Only a few of the new actors are even any good, the rest aren't cutting it. Even among the older characters I feel like a lot have regressed or are going around in circles i.e. Carmel (getting it on with Sonny!!!) Darren (thanks to the Sienna nonsense) and Ste (Doug's death just didn't seem to bother him that much). Sigh.

Because all the remaining characters are humourless. Certainly all the new ones. Now Jim's gone, there's only really Dennis left. Darren and Nancy used to be good for comic relief at times but that's gone out the window too. The Roscoes are all far too bland to have a ounce of humour and the Lomaxes might be margainally better but not much. As for the gangsters, they suck humour out of Hollyoaks like a bloody great big black hole.

I kept seeing the cast saying how excited they all were when BK came back and that there was this buzz in the cast but now I wonder if that was just all talk because you're right, a lot of them have lost their spark and even if that was true why have so many people chosen to exit recently i.e. Jorgie Porter, Lucy Dixon and Anna Shaffer.

I didn't realise they had retconned the ages from 23 to 26. I thought they were both mid 20s anyway.

That sort of thing is an insult to the audiences intelligence. Kirkwood did the exact same at EE. Jack made Ronnie ''pregnant'' when he was in a deep coma. Phil and Shirley managed to steal three million pounds from Roxy... and the excuse he gave for that was ''we aren't that good at maths'' I mean seriously?

I think when all comes to all Bryan Kirkwood was never that good to begin with. If you have to keep changing history to suit a plot then you are just a lazy producer. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Kirkwood would be perfect for a teen slasher movie where the body count is ridiculous. They should let him reboot the Halloween franchise.

I was away for a good few months but back now. Good to see you still posting! I liked your posts in another thread by the way with the use of the word 'Chav'. Funnily enough I'm reading that book you mentioned at the moment.

It seems any new characters that have potential get dragged into ridiculous SL's like have a major tragedy happen to them a few months in which basically changes them forever. There's no establishment of character or consistency. I've all but given up on the McQueen's I'm afraid, they're quite an iconic family of HO but so much unbelievable and ridiculous stuff has happened to them I can't really take them seriously. I do quite like John Paul but he's still well overshadowed by the female McQueen's since his return. But for now I'll still battle through it and grumble on!

LOL theres loads of others too, Sam Mitchell being pregnant for 11 months, 30 somthing Browning having a twenty somthing son ( even though it was stated that his kids were only little) Finn going to Ambers to see his daughter (even though it was clearly stated she had had her adopted) the list goes on and on

It is. After working so many years on Eastenders, you would think she had earned more respect than that.

Thank you, I appreciate that I'm glad to see you back. I always liked your posts, always polite and sensible (I wish I was as good).

I know what you mean about the McQueens. I do love the characters but too many of their partners end up dead. Jim, Rhys, Calvin, Riley, Malachy. It's daft.
