While investigating a problem with iPad on IOS7 (default mail account not working on apps outside Mail)I sent a number of test emails, from various accounts.
When received (on my laptop) the iPad account 'reference' names, in the form "xx_at_outlook" and "xx_at_icloud" had been replaced by my name in two forms, such as "Tom Brown" and "Thomas Brown". The email properties showed these as the names of the senders.
I think the one from my outlook account may have been replaced as it passed through the outlook server (if that makes sense).
The problem is with the icloud account. This is from my Apple ID, but I don't think I have my full name linked to this anywhere on the iPad. I installed iTunes, because I thought I had to, but I never used it. Nor have I set up an account (if I need to) in iTunes.
I have it in contacts, in case I want to send an email to my iPad only, but the name is in the "xx_at_icloud".
While it's not particularly significant (it's not as though I'm in the habit of sending emails under false names) I'm annoyed I can't work out how it happened.
