Decent budget TV for up to around £250?
Hi everyone. My little old Sharp CRT is on it's way out.
![]() I am looking for a smallish basic replacement - so 27" - 32". (can't seem to find a 30" though). I just need something to connect to my old Sky box. Not bothered about HD etc. I've seen a Samsung at around this price. Would I be advised to avoid the cheaper supermarket brands? |

Yes avoid the cheap supermarket brands. Makes like LG and Samsung are a step up from those.
Slightly above your budget but this is the telly my mum bought a while ago http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/1019760.htm It's 32 in but surprisingly compact in real life. Her living room isn't exactly proportioned like Wembley Stadium but it doesn't dominate the room by any means. I had to tweak the picture settings a bit to remove the fake tan effect it seems LG like to give people (my LG telly was the same so must be how they like them in Korea ). But once tweaked it is a very decent quality picture. There is a cheaper model which is lower resolution http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/1446852.htm which if you are not that bothered about full HD performance may do the job. |

I took out the 5year guarantee. At £17.95 it wasn't going to break the bank.
When I bought the tv on Saturday i was expecting to pay £199.99 as that was how much it was advertised in their brochure. |

Another option is the Panasonic TX-L32B6B 32 Inch HD Ready LED TV for £229.95.
Panasonic are generally considered to be one of the top TV brands. I've had several Panasonic TV's and have always been very happy with them. This one is at the lower end of their range, but it should meet your requirements. Also available at Argos (at a higher price though), where you can read some customer reviews. |

nigel you just dont give up do you ,,,,,,,,, what a moomin
the above poster told you his sharp has lasted yonks here's the reason your making yourself look silly , and why your vestel vs dearer brand simply holds no water *********5 yr guarantees************ ,,,,, make your argument a complete non issue you must also be very very rich , because the average ds member doesn't have 1000 plus disposable income to throw at a tv ,,,,,, and you simply wont ever take that into account your a snob end of the op only has 250 to spend , so the sharp with 5 years piece of mind is by far the better option than anything you can come up with the panasonic is also a good buy , and with guarantee clears your budget out completely op , it depends on HOW IMPORTANT 50 POUNDS IS TO YOU ? 50 quid means nowt to nigel also op , what about the samsung tc27c350 ,,,,,,,27 inch screen as in your opening post, this one is full hd which i know you arnt too botherd about , but within your budget at 199.99 , so will cost you 220 with the guarantee. hey look nigel , this is called offering a choice alternative within the op's budget , tit |

I've used Sharp products before & always had a decent run out of them.In fact the LCD flat screen tv in the other bedroom is a Sharp & we have had that now for just over 5 years & has never given us any problems.

But can you stretch the space to a 32 inch?, 32's are usually the best value sets due to their much higher production/sales figures. |

thankyou nigel
its an alcove shelf unit built in thingy ,,,,,, with various gaming systems on the lower shelves , with soundbar hooked up etc a 32 may fit , but the stand would have to be almost heightless , and the bezzel ,,, erm bezzeless lol i could possibly remove stand and attach to wall , but that sounds like an unnecessary job i think thats what was leaning me to 27 inch monitors . however that 27 inch sammy tv in richers may be an option . just want the sharpest ps3 image i can get within my price and space |
