branston beans
Only just tried them recently, and they are the nicest beans ever. So much better than Heinz. I got a pack of 4 for £1 at quality save, they have now sold out, I also couldn't find them in Tesco, might have to try asda.

Aldi's Corale brand baked beans are better.
Branston ones are decent though, especially at 4 for £1. |

I tried them and found them a little overpowering.
I still prefer Heinz or Lidl own brand. |

I always used to buy Heinz and didn't consider other brands until one day I my local shop sold out of Heinz so I decided to try Branston's. I liked them so much I haven't bought any other brand since.

We tend to buy generic or smart-price beans, but 4 for £1 is an excellent price for any brand. 3 for £1 is the best price I normally see in either Iceland or ASDA.

i prefer Branston beans as well, Sainsburys sell them, on offer at the moment £1 for a pack of four.
Certainly nicer than Heinz. I used to like Aldis own a few years back, but tried them a couple of weeks ago and not that impressed now. |

I converted a few years ago too, they are so much more tasty and less watery then Heinz, I stock up when they are a pound at Lidl, but B&M sell them for 1.29 which is still a good deal

They are very nice. IMO Heinz are actually pretty low on the list of decent baked beans. I find the sauce far too watery and flavourless, whereas the Branston brand are much thicker and richer.

Didn't think they would be when they first came out - but the sauce is much richer - I stick up when they're on offer too - Lidl or Tesco.
( did anyone initially think they had a Branston sauce?) I did! I have however bought them every time - the only exception is when abroad & I need them for something, or myself. The only time I've bought Heinz recently is for their 5 mixed beans. They're nice but not worth the money & their BBQ beans, chilli beans etc aren't worth the price either. Sometimes I put some cumin seeds or chilli powder in myself. |

We usually have ASDAs own beans, Branston's are too sweet for me and Heinz are far too flat.
ASDA's aren't much better either but they're the best of a bad bunch

I remember when the Branston beans came out and I was like WTF why are they even bothering trying to compete with Heinz however having tried them I realised they are much better, the sauce is nicer and thicker, Heinz sauce is incredibly watery now in comparison. I do overall try and buy Branston on offer, I usually stock up and have at least 4 cans in the cupboard, its very rare I would get Heinz now.

They're the only beans I buy or like. Heanz (including their 'posh' versions with five types of bean or organic ingredients) are watery and weak-flavoured, as are HP. I've tried Aldi and Lidl home brands but there are tastes to them I don't quite like, so I stock up on Branston when they're on special offer, which is very often.
They used to go at £1 for 4 every other week, but the last ones I got were £1.19 from Morrisons while Lidl were doing them for £1.25. Asda also do them on special offers, but they're more varied and often not as good value (such as selling packs of 3 for £1 rather or £1.50 for 4) It's the same story when you compare Ambrosia rice pudding with Aldi's own brand. Aldi's is miles better and cheaper. |

Sainsbury's own brand are by far and away the best baked beans.

The sauce is very dense, rich and salty. That's not what I'm after with baked beans. When we have them it's nearly always as an accompaniment (e.g. with fishfingers )And for that we prefer the more subtle flavour of Heinz. A quick look at the nutrition is interesting. Per serving Heinz has 1.2g of salt, Branston has 1.8g. Easily discernible. Also more sugar. More sugar and salt appeals to people - no surprises there. |
