As for redoing the dinosaurs in CGI, I think there was some discussion here about whether it could be done and most people concluded no. They would have to have the blank elements without the old dinosaurs in frame, which apparently no longer exist.
If there ever is a revised DVD, though, I think the disc should default to the colour version of episode 1 instead of having to go to the special features menu to play it. After Ambassadors, the embarrassment over the colour quality of Dinosaurs 1 seems a bit laughable.”
That is correct on the dinosaurs. Also apparently costing 100k to get convincing dinos would also be a factor in not doing it. I didn't think the colour in ambassadors or dinosaurs was that bad. Best they could do with the time and money available to them. Obviously if there was unlimited time/money they would have colourised it through legend (who did planet of the daleks 3) but they aren't and legend was now vastly more expensive. Dinos colour version wasn't the default version because full colour recovery wasn't
Possible. A lot of additional work on the colour blue was needed. Full Colour recovery was completed on ambassadors when it went through the process so that was why the colour version was default.. Additional work was required on ambassadors as well though.
