Is anyone aware of the launch date in the UK, has any information been leaked out yet? It is being released in the USA tomorrow and the spec look's brilliant. 8mp camera with flash and 1 million more pixles than the ipad mini retina! also has micro SD to take up to 64mb and has a micro HDMI. The icing on this cake seems to be something to write home about. Info on the release date would be welcomed, Thanks, Rob.

Firstly, I should have said it has a micro USB slot not a micro HDMI. If you google the Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 the specifications are, I believe are excellant. The keyboard is similiar to a computer keyboard with numericals running across the top and on the windows in the top right , same as on a computer, the three buttons exist to close the window down, go full screen or to minimise the window and many other great features.

It is now available in White at John Lewis with a two year guarantee with an option to pay to extend to a three period. The Tab Pro 8.4 itself is £349.00.

We purchased our's online from John Lewis on Thursday and collected in store yesterday. It is to early to pass a worthwhile review but so far we are extremely pleased and it is also compatible the Galaxy S111 which we also have.

My final summing up at the moment is whether you have a Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 or an iPad mini retina, a Jaguar or Daimler, a Canon or Nikon camera they are all great products and the bottom line is, its what your personal preference is.

Rob.

Applying a little bit of common sense, my OP was dated 15th February. To spell it out, if I had known on the 15th February when I made my original posting that the Tab Pro 8.4 would be availabel from John Lewis on the 06th March, would I have asked the question on 15th February? I DON'T THINK SO. Dohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

It was NOT available direct from Samsung store nor anywhere else on the 15th February hence my posting, case closed.

Right, this is where I am.

Very pleased with my purchase and no regrets whatsoever.

I looked at the iPad mini as it seemed to be a worthwhile contender but felt that I was being brainwashed, caught up in a web and sucked in, I hear people saying,"I've got an iPad" so what, I hate the iPhone and being compelled to one companies products at least I can put any manufacturer's micro SD card in up to 64GB in my Tab Pro and am not hand's tied as you are with Apple. It appear's to be the case of it's 'Apple' or nothing although I accept that it is a good product but not for me.

I am not an expert or geek by any stretch of imagination but I have done my own assessment of what 'I' wanted in a tablet, your requirements and preferences may well differ.

This is what attracted me personally:

16:10 format NOT 4:3 format as on the iPad mini which is old hat, all TV’s are 16:9 format including what you watch every single day!
Standard European/international keyboard with the numerals across the top, not on the iPad mini
359 pixels per inch not 326 as on the iPad mini
Multi task windows, not on the iPad mini
Micro USB connection, not on the iPad mini
Micro SD card capacity up to 64 GB, not on the iPad mini
Fast processor Quad core 2.3GHz not 1.3GHz, as on the iPad mini
Camera + Flash 8mp front, 2mp rear, not on the iPad mini
Infrared for TV channels, not on the iPad mini
2GB of RAM not 1GB, not on the iPad mini
Display 100% not 95%, as on the iPad mini
Battery life slightly better on the iPad mini

Easy to hold portrait style viewing and great for 16:10 viewing for video's, film's photographs etc. There were to many plus's for me personally on the Tab Pro 8.4.

My final conclusion is each to their own.
