I have recently bought a Galaxy Note 2014 & a Galaxy Tab 3 and was wondering whether it was possible to be able to play the same film on both devices simultaneously.

We have a holiday coming up, where we will be doing a fair amount of driving, and I should like to keep the 2 little ones occupied, but without having the conflict of 2 different audio streams being played simultaneously.

I am open to spending on cables if necessary to do this, or a mobile wi-fi sharing solution.

You could get them some kids headphones then they wouldn't be restricted to watching the same thing?

One way I can think of is:

1. have a laptop containing program to be played as a file or from a DVD.

2. install teamviewer remote (free from www.teamviewer.com) on PC and each tablet, downloading right version for each device.

3) connect all three devices to a mifi dongle (does not need 3g - you are only doing a local network - you may need a sim card in for mifi donge to work - even an expired one would suffice). If you do not have a mifi dongle, you could use a smart pone to act as a wifi router.

4) fire up teamviewer on laptop, and it will give you an id and temporary password (you can also set up a permanent password)

5) fire up teamviewer on each tablet and connect to laptop using id and password from step 4. They will now see PC screen.

6) start up video (or DVD), and it can then be seen on each tablet.

Splashtop personal will work as well (also free over a local lan).

Obviously you will need to try it out first, but there are no costs (I have assume you have a laptop - connecting tablets to laptop is quite easy but tablet to table is much harder).

I have done similar over internet, and it is a bit jerky but that is because my upload connect is less than 2 Mbps. Even a basic mifi dongle on a lan should be good for >20+ Mbps.

I would probably not stream HD file though as the tablets themselves may struggle, but they should have no problem with SD (DVD is SD). Of course, try HD as an experiment by all means.
