I'm really shocked The Voice fell given it had a free run for a lot of it.

Did SNT win head to head?
The Voice only fell 0.3million. Last year the fall was 0.6m, year before it fell 0.7m. This is the best ever retention for the Voice's battle stage!

#TheVoiceUK dropped to 6.95m/30.4%, its lowest rating this series. It just got the better of #SaturdayNightTakeaway though (6.87m/29.8%).

Interesting ratings, obviously SNT includes +1.

SNT got about 6.3-6.4m excluding the repeat, so a comfortable win for the Voice.

Not very high for TVUK given the extra hour against The Flop. I can see the downward trend continue in the lives as SNT grows.

BBC News has retweeted that The Voice beat Saturday Night Takeaway.

Thank God for that extra 50mins, probably just about gave TVUK the win over that +1 inflated rating.

Excellent rating for SNT - could be 8m+ without TVUK on the other channe.

Next week the Six Nations Rugby is back which will give The Voice a boost.

Hardly a great comparison given that it had far more of a free run last night than last week. All things considered that's not a particularly great rating. The peak was 1.3m down on last week. Also, it was the lowest rated start to the battles ever, and was down on last year in terms of both the average and the peak. If anything I'd say the peak is more disappointing than the average as it suggests it didn't hit the highs they've been hitting for the auditions which have been getting 9-10m peaks. 7.9m is easily a series low. Looks like the show is following the same pattern as the previous series (although better scheduling will help it later on).

Nice to see Takeaway improve, wonder if it won the clash?

Ahem.

19:00 - The Voice UK: 6.95m (30.4%)
* 19:00 to 20:20 - 6.44m (27.9%)
* 20:20 to 21:10 - 7.78m (34.5%)
* peak: 8.18m (35.9%)

19:00 - Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway: 6.41m (27.8%)
20:20 - The Cube: 3.78m (16.9%)

So The Voice won by 0.03m head to head!!

Yeah, having a 0.3m drop is causing BBC bosses to spin this morning I can tell you!

Perspective mate, perspective. It seems both BBC and ITV have at long last found decent Saturday night entertainment that can act as a credible and enjoyable alternative to each other. How long has that taken?

I am delighted that both channels have achieved around 7m viewers for a show on at the same time. The Voice was much improved on series one Battle Rounds (I didn't watch in series 2) and although it may have been a smidge too long, it was well produced and the hosts very likeable. I recorded SNT and watched it afterwards. Another decent show that was enjoyable to watch but I wish they'd stop the silly sketches! All in all, thanks to BBC1 and ITV a decent nights telly was had.

Next week will be the test. I felt the show went on much too long and my attention started to wander after the nth screeching contest started. It should've been split, half shown on Saturday and half on Sunday.

Phewww, so The Voice definitely won the head to head. No doubt about it. And those final 50mins post 8.20pm did a wonderful job of pulling up its average. BBC vindicated by its decision to have a 2hr10min show!

I've seen you in the past criticise other channels for having super long shows, so double standards - not that I should be surprised, given your comment last night:

"Once DA/IAC/BGT reduces in viewing figures and BBC overtake them, it will be almost complete domination from BBC1. That is the ultimate aim, complete ratings domination. We are getting to that stage."

If you're going to comment in this thread, at least have some objectivity.

Turns out 7.9m peak was the 15-min peak. 5min peak for TVUK was 8.2m. And as D.M.N. posted, The Voice did win the clash.

From a ratings POV, it was the perfect decision to have a 2hr10min show. When I criticise the XFactor for having such long shows, the ratings for its long episodes always tend to tail off post 9pm as it frags on to about 10pm. This was the opposite case, in which the ratings grew throughout during last night's Voice.

Good sensible post wizzy and I am sure is what most people would think. I thought they would be neck and neck and they are. Good for them both.

Although the Voice won, it had momemtum going into the battle rounds this year, SNT is slowly increasing and the Voice is slowly declining. Still ok for a long show for the Voice.

Other Saturday ratings: BBC1 - Pointless Celebs 4.47m/24.1%; Casualty 5.15m/25.2%.
ITV - The Cube 4.01m/18.0%; Jonathan Ross 2.38m/11.9%.

BIG rating for Casualty there. Is that it's highest rating for a while?

The Voice is no Strictly though. I watched SCD when it was 2 hours long, and the difference is that it didn't feel like 2 hours. The Voice's 2 hours genuinely felt like an eternity after so many voice offs! It was a well produced show and entertaining, but I'm not sure I can manage another 2 hours next week, especially as we are not really bothered about the people competing. I will likely watch SNT next week and record The Voice so I can skip through to see who wins each round.
