The figures weren't that bad and no worse than everything else in that slot. But they tend to keep that style of series but with a different presenter each time. Ade Edmondspn, Gryff Rhys Jones and someone else have all done them in the past year or so, and won't be returning. Obviously because it's Christine, it has to have flopped to fit the narrative. Some cold hard facts- she hasn't been under exclusive contract with ITV since the summer, yet they still employ her.

Her career has barely suffered at ITV anyway. What would she have actually done at the BBC? (Excluding the rumoured Olympics role which would've been tiny)

The Voice dragged a little bit lat night. But due to the way the ratings rose significantly after SNT finished, expect every remaining episode of the series to be a long 2hr one. If yesterday's Voice had been 80-90mins like previous episodes, it would've averaged 6.4/6.5m. Those extra 50mins boosted its average by about 0.6m. The live shows will be this long too.

Not to bad for both shows last night, interesting to see if the voice continues to fall or stabilises. I thought it was quite a good flowing show so I don't envisage a mass turn off but who knows, Might be able to timeshift over 8m at a push. SNT does well to increase, I get the feeling it's going to keep doing that.

I suspect MOTD was helped a bit by word of Mr Pardew's antics on the touch line (sorry, technical area)

Surprisingly decent for The Cube considering it faced The Voice for basically the whole episode. That's an improvement on what Take Me Out had been doing without The Voice against it. The swish new graphics looked really good from what I saw.


That looks slightly better although it's still quite a way down on previous weeks. Yep, it won the clash without +1 although Takeaway was ahead with it. Although I estimate that across last week's running time (so to compare the same 7-8.30pm slot week to week) it was down about 700k (to 6.5-6.6m), so a pretty standard drop.


I agree that for a 2 hour show 7-9pm is the optimum time to air it, although I maintain that with no ad breaks 2 hours 15 mins was just too long. I suspect it'll drop again next week.

I agree with this completely. A split showing all judges contestants compete over two nights would boost the ratings.

It may go down next week because it was a marathon episode. I think it is helped by the new judging panel. This is keeping "The Voice" afloat. The panel are much more likeable and interact well. I think they could be responsible for the ratings hold.

Im very pleased its doing so well this year but the format is flawed even the judges feeling uncomfortable about sending their own contestants home. The public should immediately decide on this part of the show over stripped live episodes I think. Probably cost more to produce but at the moment the public aren't involved enough in the series to care about what happens to the contestants and the judges look stupid putting contestants through and then dropping them. Its an awkward part of the process that isn't engaging enough to build the audience.

Even with the rugby inflated lead-in, do you expect it'll fall again next week? In previous weeks, the rugby has boost tvuk by about 0.5m.

As a presenter, he forgot what time the programme was due to start.

Being married to a golf pro, and taking part in several pro-am tournaments has probably given him absolutely no knowledge & expertise of all things golf. And of course he's a total amateur when it comes to broadcasting, never been on national radio, ever.

Instead of going straight to the Battle Rounds, there should be two weeks of Performance Rounds, where each contestant is given a song by the judge to tackle and scored by the judges on their performance. The contestants with the lowest scores then go on to compete in the battle rounds afterwards.

This would enable viewers to engage an interest in the contestants aswell as ensuring the weaker artists are put into the Battle rounds rather than having the judges to choose between artists they've only just chosen! This might be a way of maintaining viewers throughout its run. I agree with you though, it is likely to drop next week.

No Casualty has been doing quite well recently. It was just under 5m last week but previous to that had been over 5m for a number of weeks - 5.31m a few weeks ago.

Send yer idea in and get them to change the format! Its why the ratings stumble.

After more than 2 hours of rugby, do you really think people will have the attention span for 2.5 hours of the Voice.

Not a bad rating for the Voice there. Good for SNT as well.

Forgot about the rugby. In that case I'd expect it to be about level next week. A 0.5m rugby boost cancelled out by a 0.5m drop it would have we're the rugby not on.

As for the Rugby, I think England v Wales is on next Sunday.

It's Scotland v France though, and the French will win it easily. Scotland & Italy are the poorest teams in the competition by some margin.

There is a finite audience for both shows, one goes up one goes down. I was subjected to SNT last night (harmless dated entertainment) then the last part of the voice afterwards (bland singers who cried a lot)....Maybe SNT will take the lead next week, but a decent rating for each show all the same.

He is right most of the time! It's his "in between" posts that prevent us from realising that though. Bless him though, I do think he brightens this place up.

Guess they complement each other better.

Let's face it though however bad The Voice is it's done enough this series to probably secure at least two more series, and it's doing far better than any other talent show BBC have tried outside Strictly season with the exception of the first 2-3 series of Let's Dance - which was on a par ratings rise but only 4-5 weeks of the year and bounce about all over the place.

Now if only the BBC could make an entertainment show which was entertaining rather than a chore...


P.S. Stripping out the ads presumably Takeaway won the head to head quite easily without +1. Would be interesting though to see if The Voice peaked during those ad breaks and whether there is much of a crossover audience.

Although it could be assumed that the 6-7m who watch TV do actually find it entertaining.........................................
