No today's papers say Reid asked to go on a break due to her "Marital" (she wasn't married) problems for this weeks 3 eps there is a difference. Whether or not she ever comes back is another matter of course.

LAst nights was the first Musketeers ep that I actually enjoyed.

For a start you could make it without hiring in a former BBC presenter which will obviously give rise to claims of plagiarism. You could then do something more focussed than someone wandering round the countryside or coastline talking about history and wildlife - plenty more to look at in the countryside, all sorts of environment issues, farming, destruction of the Green Belt by building on it. But those sort of programmes don't want to get involved in politics (although Countryfile does on occasions to be fair and takes politicians and others to task). Why is it virtually every new programme announced by ITV seems to be a re-working of a BBC idea - aren't we being promised a new ITV quiz ''inspired'' by the Generation Game (which was actually a Dutch TV idea bought by the BBC for Brucie).

Apparently Julia Bradbury has tweeted that she is leaving Countryfile but will continue to work on both BBC and ITV. She is freelance apparently - so just a bit of Daily Fail hype after all.

I started to watch the first series of Selfridge - on paper, it should have been something I would enjoy - but I just couldn't get interested in it - not really sure why - the characters (Selfridge especially) just didn't engage with me.
I haven't watched any of the second series.

I watched the first 4 eps of Musketeers - it was enjoyable enough - but the same thing, I just couldn't get really engaged with the characters - and the eps seemed very much a re-hash of each other.
Haven't got back into it again since the break.

I didn't watch any tv at all last night.

I don't find it unbelievable.

It's not unbelievable - quite the reverse.

Both TM and MS are flawed and viewers are quick to spot this. MS should be benefitting from TM's slow death, but it isn't. Which speaks volumes.

Drama starts with the quality of the characters and the quality of the writing, and both shows under perform in that area. Neither deserve to be recommissioned - but have been.

Good presenting line up, will be very interesting to see how this pans out.

Interesting that Aled has been given his own weekend show as well.

6m is not a great rating. For either show. It's distinctly average. Rather like both series …

Strange then that about six million more of the "Mary Berry Brigade" watch CTM than actually watch Mary Berry! Traitors to Mary, clearly

Maybe - just maybe - the audience for CTM is not some kind of 'brigade' at all. Maybe they just watch it because it's a good drama?

Re: ITV Breakfast developments. Surprised Charlotte Hawkins moved considering Eamonn elected to stay with Sky. I'm sure he was supportive but they work well together on Sunrise.

Sean Fletcher seems like a bit of a random choice. I'd have promoted Matt Barbet from the 6am hour myself.

That would have made up a team of all white middle class presenters. Maybe they felt they needed a diverse team?
