Front page of The Sun tomorrow reveals that Kylie has quit The Voice after one series.

Everyone is raving about the Only Fools and Horses Sport Relief sketch. I can see Sport Relief battering Edge of Heaven by about 7-9 to 1. Hopefully a proper new episode of OFAH can be made for this Christmas, following this successful sketch. Also looks like Beckham is becoming much more affiliated with the BBC [after a brief tv relationship with Itv in the mid 00s] due to this sketch and his upcoming exclusive BBC documentary. Hopefully soon to be part of the Beeb's critical and ratings-winning football coverage as a pundit. .

I dont think she's really added much to the series overall. Was a refreshing change in the first few episodes but hasn't really stood out since. The Voice will continue absolutely fine without her. As long as someone decent is brought in to replace her and they continue scheduling it in Q1 against the dire Itv competition, The Voice will continue to rate very well

Raving about it?

The consensus seems to be "best bit of the night, but that's not saying much".

Regarding Kylie, no doubt Samuel etc will now be saying that she isn't anything special, after raving about her, just like what they did with Jessie J.

Should see the ratings rising then tomorrow, and be clearly way ahead of Takeaway in all possible metrics...

Bollock, the only reason I watched any of it was Kylie, if shes gone the show will go even further down the ladder.

If Saturday Night Takeaway is dire, what does that make The Voice which it routinely beats?

Bit embarrassing for the show really for this to be a front page headline mid-series.

She's shrewd though and it's the right call for her.

The timing of your post is exceptional

Kylie's not that immensely popular, her new single failed to chart in the top 10. BBC has assessed the situation and decided not to give into Kylie's representatives demands of a massive pay rise.

Dire competition in thr first few weeks helped the Voice establish an audience by the time SNT returned. Hopefully similar situation next year too, hope Itv renews Splash for another long series.

The BBC said recently they are working on a number of projects with Beckham John Sullivan's sons have already said they will not be writing any more OFAH.

It always seems to establish an audience, which falls away when it becomes a lame version of X Factor (if Cowell had got XF to the US first, maybe it would have been as big as The Voice there)

Establish an audience that then declined every week and couldn't wait to turn off when some decent Saturday night entertainment started!

Last week's audience for the Voice was up week on week and up a million viewers from last year. The Voice has won its slot every week so far [excluding +1/repeats].

Even on ignore SamuelW makes this thread unbearable.

Would expect no less than 10m for the Only Fools sketch - far funnier than anything they did in the three misguided comeback episodes and I think a positive note to end a legendary series on. It's been made pretty clear that no full episodes or series will be made.

As for The Voice and Kylie - to be fair it shouldn't make too much of a difference - can't believe I'm saying this but she's hardly had the Cheryl Cole effect on the show. Then again that might mean something different in six months time.

The BBC would not negotiate with Kylie's demands of moving the show and the filimng to another time of the year to let her do her tour and still be in the show. The BBC will not be dictated by the demands of its on-screen talent. The talent must listen to the BBC, and if they cant agree on things, it's better to mutually agree to split.

Umm, so at first you say Kylie hasn't done that much for the show, then you say it's improved a lot this year, umm I'm confused?

Agree on both counts. Very embarrassing for them but the right move of her part. It's done exactly what she wanted it to do for her.

I don't think she has necessarily added all that much to the quality of the show itself, but in terms of buzz, hype and perception of the show she's done a lot of good, and they'll struggle to replace her in that regard.

Wth no Kylie and potentially tougher ITV competition it might not find it so easy during the auditions next year. We've seen with the Takeaway clashed that against decent competition it drops (still does well but drops) so it might rate like that for the auditions next year too.

It's improved year on year. The biggest reason, I would say, for this is due to its consistent 7pm or so Q1 slot. Last year it was moved around all over the place and had to compete against BGT. Better situation this year.

References to both The Voice and X Factor in a post about the constant goliath BBC vs ITV war..I'm impressed

Or it could be because Kylie is popular, I think I should say that in definite terms to counter-act yours, but whats the point.

A show improves with a change of personnel, they lose that personnel, it may not be a big thing, but it very well could be. Common-sense really.

Good to see Beckham make the right choice and become part of the BBC family. He'll be a ratings force for years to come, an important asset to the BBC for sure.
