I still have nightmares about Ortis Deley on the Athletics.

"Jessica Ennis. Good night."

They did a good job of the Paralympics though and I wouldn't object to them getting in on the Baku action.
Bless him that's going to haunt him for the rest of his career. Incidentally has he been on TV since that?

And yeah I think they did a brilliant job on the Paralympics. Be interesting to see how well they do for the Winter Paralympics.

One thing I've been wondering, the first ever European Games (Europe only Olympics) are being hosted next year in Baku, I was wondering as its an IOC approved/supported event if that means the BBC will automatically qualify for TV Rights? If not would this be something C4 would likely go for?
I suspect neither will be particularly interested especially if they fail to get top athletes to sign up and I doubt C4 are especially interested given they handed back the World Athletics contract early.

BBC iPlayer views through TVs like with Sky/Virgin set top boxes are included. EastEnders was adding 1m before Christmas on occasion.
EE only adds 1m on special occassions like clashes and holidays or big storylines though.

Absolutely right. City are only the fifth most supported team in England at best, if and when Forest and Leeds eventually end up back in the big time they'll probably be only seventh most popular.

So that is why Manchester City have just this week been allowed to up their ground size to the second biggest in the Premier League behind Manchester United's Old Trafford. Because nobody is watching them?

Depends when it is isn't it since its a world Championship year the one before an Olympics which is far more important than an Europe only event. Why not have such a thing this year when Athletics already has an European Championships which they have every 2 years which hardly anyone bothers with during Olympic years.

As predicted, the two hour length killed it
The whole thing was a shambles. Anne slurring her lines two minutes into the show set the tone! After ten minutes you knew where this was going; not a proper debate, just a case of squeaky wheel getting the grease.

Audience members heckling, shoddy camera work, Ferrari not giving equal air time to certain participants.

The only panel member who had coherent views was Tim Stanley and I don't necessarily agree with the man's politics. As someone said on the live commentary here, it was "a student production of The Big Questions". How apt.

He's still done The Gadget Show, hasn't he? But he's not done any live TV since and sadly his career has been dented by it, which was C4's fault for sticking him in there with no help.

Gary Lineker also presents Champions League football for overseas channels during the week,
He used to, for Al Jazeera, but now they do all their coverage from Doha rather than London, he doesn't. But now he's presenting on NBC's coverage of the Premier League, he does bits and pieces from London and I think he presented the Man City vs Chelsea match the other week for them from the ground. And he's certainly doing far more than other faces of BBC1 like Brucie and Graham Norton who only do one show a week for X weeks of the year. Obviously they're different jobs...

I think all channels would be doing better if Britain was doing better, because for Britain to do much better we'd have to be undergoing some kind of ice age.
I mean if Britain was doing better at The Winter Olympics ratings would be higher. Keep up Steve!

I am very tempted to watch on catch up for the comedy value. I heard Anne was crap. Happy to get the TV work.

For all Manchester United's troubles on the pitch, off the pitch they are one of a select few teams to get good ratings when they play. Manchester City are playing better football but don't deliver United's TV numbers yet.

Tonight City play Barcelona so that could get a good rating.

DCI Banks still doing well, surprisingly. I suspect Silk will return well with over 4.5m, while Banks drops below 5m (with a higher time shift for the commercial channel than the week before)

@TVRatingsUK: #BenefitsBritain: the Live Debate drew 3.25m/13.8% to C4 last night. C5's two hour Big Immigration Row could only manage 0.89m/3.8%.
A strong night for Channel 4 then! The last Word also preformed very well.

Rofl at the Channel 5 figure though

I could see it peaking at that. Either way Death In Paradise will take a hit tonight. Would have been great to see it get 8m for every episode.

Thanks for these. That University Challenge rating is huge! Ahead of ITV at 8pm!

A poor primetime for Channel Five. They spent too long on the debate.

Decent for 8 Out Of 10 Cats on Channel 4 but losing nearly 2m from Benefits Street Debate. If Channel 4 ran the debate after the final Benefits Street as planned they would have had an even better set of ratings.

Does anyone know how Dispatches (C4, 8pm) did last night?

Many thanks!

He's been appearing on the BBC as a sports reporter, looks confident, probably had some training.

I notice switching on before DOND has been moved back half an hour. Is this due to falling interest in the show now, which has gone from 3 million at its height to 800,000 now?

Only 168k for new Moone Boy on Sky1, ouch...

Do we have anything for Modern Family return at 8pm and the (according to my series link) new Simpsons at 9.30?

Also could be a good commison for ITV, even if it is another crime drama; http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...la-plante.html

Moone Boy has never rated that well. Modern Family got 400k for both episodes.

Thing is, crime drama does well for ITV so why not. But they need to get couple of other non crime dramas commissioned.
