Emmerdale didn't overtake it on a few occasions, it overtook it consistently for many many weeks, much longer than anyone expected. It wasn't just a load of fuss made over one shock rating, that is often the case here

At the same time, one half decent storyline on Corrie would cause that to increase as well. It's fair to say Corrie is going through a dull patch at the moment with most storylines being smaller ones that usually support the main one, and certain characters are becoming quite annoying.

Although, and correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think Emmerdale ratings dropped during Blackburn's era, just that some storylines were not to their taste. Didn't he bring us Killer Cameron?

That Channel 5 debate (or 'row' as they deliberately called it) sounds awful, TV designed to trend on Twitter with no underlying serious element. At least shock docs about people with strange body parts generally have an underlying story to tell.
