The Voice and Splash both rating pretty much exactly how i predicted last night. Splash benefitted from the football lead-in and the fact its last 20mins didnt face the Voice. The Voice was hurt by the lower-than-recent-rugby lead-in. Next week is a big night for the Voice, will be interesting to see how it holds up against bookies favourite Saturday Night Takeaway. BBC1 will be hoping it hits that 6m target of theirs, while Itv will be hoping for around 7m for SNT [the level it was at last year].

British television in general needs new 10m LE formats but we have not had one for what 10 years? Thats why we are stuck with the same schedules year after year - fine I suppose if you like them but awful if you dont.

But you could say itv focuses to much on their big guns once they are over there's not much else. At least BBC has tried some different stuff granted most of it not great but still.

Samuel, where exactly has this so called "6 million target" you speak of been published? I'd love to know.

UK TV Ratings @TVRatingsUK 1m
ITV's coverage of Man City v Chelsea in the #FACup peaked with 6.01m/31.2%. The full programme averaged 4.57m/23.8% from 4.45pm. Reflex was flattened by the two sporting attractions. |

Nobodys been good at finding them lately though although with the fragmentation of the audience its increasingly difficult and may never happen again I suppose.

BBC1 looks fairly low y its standards, I imagine ITV was boosted by the James Bond film in daytime.
I agree with Samuel though, a peak of 6 million is good but not brilliant. Not great for next year either if such a big pairing cannot do a bit better. We will see if the BBC can make a bigger noise of the competition or not. |

That's a weak rating for the FA Cup though, considering two of Britain's current best teams were involved.

Itv commission Cilla. Drama about the younger years of Cilla Black.
With fliming starting next month an Autumn airing seems likely. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats...filmed-6714074 |

I think I'm right in thinking though that Chelsea and Man City, despite their success, are much less of a ratings draw than Man U and Liverpool.

Nice weather here today, no rain, sun is shining, lovely blue sky.
Re - The Voice, it does seem to be dragging now and the loooooong runtime doesn't do it too many favours. I PVR and run through it in a similar way to the XF. I'm surprised no-one (Samuel) played the Half Term Holidays card! |

The best you MAY get is one of his informers (who will remain unnamed) has told him. I personally cannot believe the BBC would be happy with a 2.5m drop across 2 episodes. |

I'm surprised next week's episode of The Voice is 90 minutes long. I think they should've kept it to 60 minutes. Then people would be more inclined to watch live with Saturday Night Takeaway on +1 or catch up.

Makes little sense airing a BBC4-esque biopic drama on a mainstream channel like Itv [or BBC1] though. It's not going to get very good ratings. Also it probably wont sell well abroad, who internationally even knows who Cilla Black is. I hope it's not a propaganda piece and they actually show what Black really is like.

Last year the Voice averaged 6-7million up against Saturday Night Takeaway for its blind auditions. That is roughly what the BBC will be expecting for next week, and then towards the lower end of that range once the blind auditions are over.
With SCD they did everything in their power to improve ratings year on year and it worked. By refreshing the judging panel this year with the addition of Kylie, I cannot believe the BBC are not hoping for better overall ratings? |
