Considering the obscene amount the BBC pay for the 6 Nations, there is more chance of them showing Quidditch than the rugby, no matter how good the demos.

SNT is still favourite IMO despite the fact that I was shouted down earlier in the week when I suggested it. I suspect it will be very close ~7m.

Or D Susanna has read this thread and realised what a terrible mistake it would be.

The storyline has already shocked people because it's such a bold move. It's one hell of a risk to kill off such and important character to the only Original family in the show.
It's a storyline I for one didn't see coming.
Peoples opinions are mixed and myself I am annoyed but happy.

Regarding EastEnders VS Emmerdale.
There is a clash next week on Tuesday (half hour) and Thursday (15mins) but EastEnders has a massive week planned.

Spoiler
Ronnie and Roxy are back from their short holiday
Carls Mother and Brother return to demand news on where Carl has gone.
They kidnap Baby lexi
”

Bloody hell I didn't no about that spoiler Dan

Which begs the question WHY the BBC pays so much for the Six Nations.

The DS Ratings Prediction Game averages have The Voice just beating Saturday Night Takeaway excluding +1: 7.0m to 6.7m.

I thinks thats a good call. It allows for a big drop for TVUK because of the opposition and a bit of a boost for SNT as the terrible duo seem to be even more popular at the moment. Of course TVUK may hang on to more or SNT could go ballistic like IAC - certainly going to be interesting.

Presumably to make it unviable for commercial networks. I suppose the considerable regional audiences and demographics are useful badges for the BBC. I cant recall much anti BBC noise regarding Six Nations-certainly compared to the furore when there was a possibility they might bid for Champions League some years ago.

ITV also forgot to launch a new channel this week.

Not seen much itv lately but I noticed a fair bit of promotion for Takeaway during the NTA's and over the past week it seems to have been stepped up a bit in terms of press coverage as well with the Celebrity Juice special helping too. I thought it had been a bit quiet up until this week. I see they're also on Graham Norton next Friday.

The BBC haven't really let up on banging The Voice drum since it began and they're obviously keen to focus on the final blind auditions element as those can be very popular.

And the show appeals to a broad age range of the viewing public, not just older members. EE is on its way back up. Its Tuesday episode actually rated only 0.1million lower than Coro's Wednesday episode!”

I love how it's a positive that EE skews young but also a positive when a BBC show skews old. And a negative when an ITV show skews old but also a negative when it skews young.

In terms of faux-happy community, do any of the soaps do this? I don't watch any of them but hasn't the main plot on Corrie this year been the death of a terminally ill cancer patient determined to end her life her own way as her grief stricken husband struggles to cope? Hardly sounds that cheery.

That all being said, I do think from my loose grasp on soap ratings that while EE might not be in a major rally, Corrie does seem to be slipping back a bit.

Hardly anything to report that's new on Channel 5 in week 11.

The only noteworthy thing is the new series of Trauma Doctors:

Quote:
“Trauma Doctors: Every Second Counts (Series 2: 1/6)
The doors of the Royal London Hospital burst open to reveal a new series of heart-stopping emergencies, as ‘Trauma Doctors’ returns to Channel 5 this week. Granted unprecedented access to the elite squad of medics and their patients, cameras reveal the astonishing work being carried out at one of the UK’s leading major trauma centres.

The medics of the Royal London, part of Barts Health NHS Trust based in the East End, face a daily battle against time to save lives. On call 24/7, they provide immediate treatment when someone is critically injured in the capital, reaching their patients either by car or helicopter – London’s Air Ambulance operates from the hospital roof.

Making use of every clue they can find, the trauma specialists must quickly work out what is wrong with their patients as every second may count. The cameras are beside them as they make critical, split-second decisions which can mean the difference between life and death.

This week, a young man comes within a centimetre of death after being stabbed, a man brought in after a fall learns that he has just days to live and a cyclist is left with life-changing injuries after being involved a collision with a bus.

Meanwhile there were further developments in the potential sale of Channel 5, which is rapidly gathering pace now:

* It's been revealed Richard Desmond quietly stepped down from the C5 board at the end of last year along with two of his key executives Paul Ashford and Stanley Myerson.
* Bidders have until the end of next week to formally express an interest in the channel.
* Interested parties could include BT, BSkyB, ITV, Time Warner and Discovery.
* NBC Universal is understood to be less likely to be interested following parent company Comcast's decision to focus domestically on pay-TV with its $45.2bn deal to buy Time Warner Cable.
* Concerns amongst potential buyers about a possible deal include...
-the limited level of detail provided in the 100+ page document sent out;
-specifically a lack of detail provided on the state of its programming deals including key brands like CSI and Neighbours;
-difficulty in establishing the effect cross-promotion across Northern & Shell's other outlets has had on C5 peformance.

With ITVBe launching in addition to ITV2, I don't see why ITV would still want Channel 5.

That's what I'm hoping too. I think it's mostly speculation on MG's part. The only firm whisper I've heard is for BT who apparently already expressed an interest before this process began.

Ah, the word 'normally' again, my favourite! Like with the claim that Saturday Night Takeaway 'normally' beats The Voice UK earlier in the week, there've only been two occasions before this weekend where a Six Nations Friday night match has not involved England, nowhere near enough instances to claim a trend..and even then it's an inaccurate claim because Wales v France in 2010 was on a Friday night and shown on BBC One.

Incidentally, annoyingly, the first of those was during the infamous 'Part 3'-era of this fine thread which whilst restored hasn't been added to the archive yet so I can't look up the ratings for it The 2010 match averaged just under 5 million though, relatively healthy.

Not well. Both episodes under a million (927k and 639k for episodes 1 and 2 respectively).

Another 8 weeks remaining. If it was an import it would probably be moved but I suspect because it's homegrown it will stay there unless it drops markedly again in week 3.

It's not a bad show but it's too quirky to be a hit.

Castles moving to 5USA isn't it Dancc? I have it showing up as new (6/24) on Thu 6 March over on 5USA. It does fit better there if this is the case. Hopefully it will be back sooner!

Edit: it definitely looks that way. They are repeating latest season from 4-5pm weekdays from March 3, 2014 I think.
