If it is back that week it has to be Tuesday for 6 weeks or as you say Tue/Wed but I am not sure they have done that before. If they were going to do that you would of thought Thurs/Fri like Silent Witness.

A regular Thursday night would have rated much better for ITV. Next week's match won't rate much better.

It started out on Sunday/Monday. I'd be tempted to have it weekly.

Thanks I can't remember if I liked Shetland, that's probably not a good sign. But still adds to a really strong drama output for March, what are we predicting for creek this Friday, I reckon a 5 figure, but I'd love it to be in the sevens!
What about masterchef that must be coming up soon, I hope they stick to 8pm again, it works much better there

The Neighbours point is interesting because the cost and duration of the deal were made public when it was done in 2007. I detected a whiff of bullshit in the contract renegotiation rumours a few years ago. I'm not convinced they were able to reduce the price they were paying, so perhaps that's why the document is vague.

Wasn't it around March/April when BBC1 started to go off the boil? Even then they had Shetland and Mayday which did well.
I think Jonathan Creek could be high 6/low 7 million. But it's the following bweek with Gogglebox in the mix that I will be interesting to watch.

I can think of his polar opposite who seems to appear from nowhere whenever the slightest criticism of ITV is made. Both BBC One and ITV are not very good channels and I can't see why people defend them so much.

Well you have to remember they're not just bidding against ITV. The greater likelyhood would be to lose the competition to Pay TV as it isn't on the Crown Jewels list. I'm sure it would feature highly on the priority list for Sky, and now BT. Both will surely outbid the BBC next time (and Sky may have done so last time), so the BBC are essentially trying to close the gap as much as possible to sweeten the FTA offer for the Six Nations committee. In a way, the money the BBC lavish on it is rather more justifiable than when they bid against ITV for things that have to be FTA anyway.
This is all especially true in Wales where the Six Nations is the biggest annual sporting event there is. I think the regional value of the competition - the fact it matters in all corners of the UK - is one reason the BBC value it so highly.

I'm disappointed that Susannah Reid is defecting to ITV, but I have now got so used to Louise Minchin that I find myself preferring Minchin over Reid anyway. Louise seems like a truly natural presenter, she giggles, she asks the right questions to the right people and she comes across as a true professional. Susannah had reduced her Breakfast presenting to two days a week so her leaving the BBC is not going to affect Breakfast because the Beeb have several strong, excellent female presenters.
I wish Susannah well and if she is as popular as you seem to think she is, well, Good Morning Britain will succeed big time.
It isn't nice to wish people fail at things just because it doesn't fit into your agenda.
Also, she's perfectly entitled to job hunt and leave a current job. My work contract assumes I'm going to work there for years, but it highlights notice period and such like incase I decide to leave. I assume contracts issued by the BBC would state the same.

UTV can't opt out. The breakfast licence, 0600-0925, is UK-wide.
Terrible for Edge of Heaven, will be chucked in the bin instantly after that rating. I wouldn't be surprised if next weeks episode drops to low 2million and Creek records a figure 7m+ if not 8m+.
Coronation Street looks low, but only sign of things to come - ITV have made a hige error on giving this position to Stuart Blackburn, and with Corrie being their best ratings banker they should have been more careful. Hopefully they start to take notice o its decline - particularly if EE tops it in the next few days. Personally I think this is the only thing to cause them to take action if EE regains top spot in soap ratings.
That rating for Student Nurses- although EE absence enhanced is still superb. Could it turn into ITV's next factual hit?

I watched Edge of Heaven. I thought it had potential, but unfortunately it was executed poorly on screen. It was like Gavin and Stacey Does Benidorm in Margate. There were blatant copies of Benidorm in respect of the old mother of Bald Gary who was clearly a mix-up of Madge from Benidorm and Doris from Gavin and Stacey. There were also the friends' of Alfie's names like Spanner which copied the Fingers and Chinese Alan scenario from Gavin and Stacey. There were elements of Heartburn Hotel with its hardly mentioned 80's theme B&B setting, but Heartburn Hotel was actually funny.
It's a shame that Edge of Heaven wasn't put together better because it really could have worked. It was a mish-mash of various comedies and thrown into a poorly scripted comedy pot as if it had the "that'll do" sentiment from the creators.

There was a frenzy of speculation last weekend but I agree there doesn't seem to be anything confirmed since then, nothing on her twitter feed, but this thread seems to think she has confirmed it.

I saw the ratings for the Swansea game and 2.5 million is dire. I think ITV should keep this tournament on ITV 4 until an English team reaches the semis. Anyway after May 2015, the Europa League won't be an issue for them.
Sources have told me that after The Jonathan Ross Show finishes, the second series of The Americans will take over the Saturday post 9pm slot on Itv from 15th March. Didnt they learn from their mistakes of the first series which rated as low as 1million in that slot?! Should help BBC One's audience post-9pm and give BBC1 a better chance of continuing to beat Itv in peak time on Saturdays.
