I agree about Bake Off moving to Wednesday, but I don't think it and The Apprentice will air together for all of their runs. I think they should start GBBO in August/September acting as a lead in to a new drama/comedy, then use the last few episodes to kickstart The Apprentice.

BBC One has commissioned a major new musical-esque drama 'Stop! In The Name Of Love' which will feature many Motown songs. The major 10 episode project is going to be done a big scale and the BBC has already signed a deal with record label EMI to destribute the songs when it eventually airs. As there is nothing else like it on mainstream tv [Glee doesnt count], BBC1 hopes this original, unique drama strikes a chord with the mainstream audience, particularly as the songs featured will all be old Motown classics [so should cater well for the older audiences], and that turns into a Mamma Mia type smash hit. This is no Britannia High type show which will feature unknown songs and kids, this will feature well known popular songs and actors and characters of all age ranges to appeal to a broad BBC1 audience. 'Stop! In The Name Of Love' will be one the landmark dramas for BBC One next year, expect lots of multi-platform trailing for it prior to its debut in 2015.

I'm sorry but the way you describe it makes it sound naff.

This could become a major hit for BBC One if done rightly. Songs from the show could be played on BBC Radio 1 or Radio 2, music videos on YouTube to promote the show. This will be a unique, original project. Nothing else like it is on mainstream tv, it could catch on.

Yes Radio 1 loves a bit of Motown! Still sounds a bit rubbish to me, as it was when I mentioned it a few weeks ago, but I will check it out first before writing it off. Glee and Nashville will probably have ended by then so I'll need a new musical series in my life! Ha!

It doesn't appeal to me personally but you have to give BBC One credit for trying something different.

You never know, so I'm certainly not going to bash it before we see what happens.

It's a Tony Jordan Creation.

Charlotte Moore described at the TV festival that she would be quite keen on finding a big love story for BBC one drama. So perhaps this musical drama will have those kinda central themes.

I can see "The Great British Bake Off" finding its home on a Wednesday also as Tuesday has always been reserved for "Holby City" and I doubt they wil move it for the autumn only. I would have been tempted to starve the audience "The Great British Bake Off" and relaunch it on BBC one in January on Sunday evenings at either 7, 8 or even 9 pm around "Call The Midwife" as I think they would sit ok next to each other in the schedule and "The Great British Bake Off" could easily be scheduled against drama or light entertainment somewhere between 7 and 10 pm. I would have just had a "Children In Need" week special rather than the "Sports Relief Bake Off" and then launched it early January on Sundays.

So for all the drama, there's really no issue at all with sports scheduling? And in fact they'll be providing a big lead-in to the weekend primetime line-ups (or at least bigger than usual! The teams don't look great).

And for all the drama about the Rugby World Cup, it doesn't seem like that's going to be much of an issue at all. If anything it will help existing shows.

The bbc could go with a SOAH Christmas Special leading into a full series teamed up with Call The Midwife for Sunday nights in January 2015.

I would perhaps move The Musketeers second series to Saturday nights which is where I think that it should be

Countryfile will be tape-checked to a 19:05 start.

It is a superb show though and I hope it goes from strength to strength on BBC one.”

Someone earlier today mentioned tv burp could come back in 2015. But this interview with Harry Hill today suggests he wouldnt want to bring it back because the workload was so much: http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-ra...al-i-cant-sing

Quite. And even if they did the crossover between a typical football audience and a typical X Factor audience would be minimal at best. If I recall correctly, ITV downgrading the FA Cup final to a lead-in for Britains Got Talent meant nothing for the latter's ratings when it happened the other year.

Are New Zealand a minor rugby nation now? I thought they were the defending champions

And a tournament being based in Britain, when it wouldn't be normally, does change the stature of the events. Were you out of the country during London 2012?

How many 14 and 15 year olds are down at your local on a weeknight?

Glee is due to end in May 2015 so, depending on when in the year it falls, this new BBC One show could just be around to see Glee's tail disappearing out of the door..

Would that be in the Casualty slot?. If so, I think it would be a good idea personally.

Agree (although not that different - see above.)

As a big 10-parter, I predict it will get the slot Musketeers has this year.

Other interesting commissions/programmes in development from the same production company for primetime BBC1.

Behind Closed Doors: primetime series of regional studio plays (perchance its small budget cancels out the bigger budget that Stop! In The Name Of The Love might have.

Dickensian: 20 x 30-minute studio drama in which various Dickens characters interact.

The Passing Bells: 5 x 30-minute World War I drama.

The article in Broadcast that mentions this commissions talks about the 30-minute dramas being stripped in the schedules. To replace The One Show for a few weeks? How else could they strip them? The 8pm hour is awkward because of the soaps. 9pm? That would leave them with a nightly slot to fill at 9.30. Stripped repeats of Mrs Brown or Miranda? Or it might be the eventual slot for Peter Kay's Car Share.

Car Share, WHERE ARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!?

The episode following the final was up over a million on the previous week and I think might have been the highest overnight of the entire series. It was also one of the highest auditions episodes ever. We've also seen the rugby helping out The Voice.

With BGT and the FA Cup final it's perhaps not so much because of a hugely compatible lead-in. Just the fact that it was some form of lead-in. It's a long time since itv were setting up BGT or X Factor with a lead-in of any note.

Oh right. Apologies. Still, wasn't that the 2012 final between Liverpool and Chelsea, a thrilling match which went right down to the wire and peaked with 11.2m viewers? Because I can't quite see any of England's qualifying matches for Euro 2016 emulating that..

No, that was Wigan vs Man City which averaged 4.96m (don't know what it peaked at). With broad stuff like X Factor or The Voice I think any lead-in helps.

Football (and sport in general) skews relatively young and upmarket, similar to X Factor. The difference is that X Factor is about 60/40 female to male while the football is the reverse. But within that, there's going to be a reasonable number that might stick around. Certainly more than The Chase!

Expect CTM average to be down due to the dodgy start time. Hopefully we will also get a full slot average of the Musketeers first thing tomorrow morning.

Why? So it inflates the rating which will be removed in the officials anyway. Ridiculous!!

Same thing happened last week, what's BBC1's problem with Sunday nights, it looks as if Blandings overran again as the News started and finished on time.
