But still miles better than most of the drivel we get nowadays. Creek set itself such high standards initially so it's hard for viewers to be totally statisfied if they fail to be as good as the really good ones!

I just can't see them ending todays show without the slightest of mention, unless the presenters are all being carried over. That said, Kate Garraway now has a daily mid-morning show on Smooth Radio so she probably won't make it on to the new show, but I couldn't see them getting rid of her without as much as a mention or a VT with her 'best bits', after all she is the longest serving ITV Breakfast presenter after Lorraine.

Articles also appear to be referring to 'next Monday'. I take that as Monday 10th March.”

But the ''next Monday'' is March 3, ie after the weekend

'The' next Monday is the 3rd March. 'Next Monday', to me, means a week on Monday. A bit like when some TV stations do 'now, next, later' in their listings, before the 'now' programme has even started. Its a bit ambiguous, theres no right or wrong answer for it, so if Daybreak is coming off air with almost-immediate effect, I'd still expect it to be on next week with Friday being the last one.

It is ambiguous. But in reality "next" Monday should be the 3rd, but I would consider that to be "this" Monday and like yourself regard "next" Monday as the 10th. But it's all a matter of interpretation really.

Actually I do agree with that and the specials before the last one were good. It would be nice to see Caroline Quentin turn up in one as a guest star though - that would be great.

Broadcast is reporting that Sky are dropping the £5 million a year retransmission fee they charge the BBC for their programmes - surely it should be the other way round and Sky should be paying the BBC ?

Creek will be over way over 6million 7million is achievable. The facts are; Easy slot, 8m+ lead in from Corrie, big promotional push, off air for over 1 year, etc. Is will not be below 6.5m that is for sure.

Why? It was commissioned by BBC Two and is exactly the kind of drama that fits on BBC Two, why should they lose out just because they created/funded a brilliant drama. BBC Two are allowed to have their own hits without losing them to BBC One and leaving them with all those not deemed worthy for the main channel, Janice Hadlow worked hard to give the channel its own identity and that's not "BBC One's castoffs". Also, if you mean promoted as in advertising, then BBC Two started showing the trailer back in December so it had plenty of promotion.

Looks like the BBC's Agatha Christie deal covers everything.

From Broadcast:

Quote:
“The BBC’s relationship with Agatha Christie marks the end of the author’s two decade partnership with ITV, which last year laid David Suchet’s Poirot to rest. ITV has also closed the case on Miss Marple, who was last played by Julia McKenzie.

Stephenson refused to rule out BBC adaptations centred on the iconic detectives, but would not comment on other Christie developments currently being considered by the corporation. The Christie adaptations will be supported by documentaries about the author on BBC1 and BBC2.”

Er... doesn't Edge Of Heaven get the 8m lead-in from Corrie?

Well technically yes, but I mean 8m+ viewers floating about after Corrie (or more likely 6m+) depending on how many stay with EOH.

Some really impressive drama announcements today. This is a big deal. Good news for Christmas schedules.

Good night for BBC One last night.

No mention of a Christmas special for Call the Midwife, there was in last years equivalent press release. Maybe I'm just giving false hope to some of the Fantasy Christmas schedulers

Indeed both The Mirror and Radio Times say that ITV's Marple is dead.

This is a surprise. C5 pick up rights to the awfully rating critically and in viewership (cancelled after 4 episodes on NBC) Ironside reboot for 5USA. The only reason is because it's cheap I suspect so it could be a clever move for those unknowing of its short life as they could watch it for the whole of its run. But still, it's saddening quality isn't taken into account IMO.

Very good figure for The Chase. Seems to be catching up to Pointless. Nice to have healthy competition at teatime.

Channel 5 not investing the money it has saved by not renewing some of its imports wisely. Its just a really silly show to go for. In the end it will come back to bite them fans of those shows which were dropped are less likely to watch more channel 5 and people waste an hour of their lives on Ironside will be less likely to check out their next import.

UK Eurovision entry to be announced in 3 days time. The fact that it's come from the "BBC introducing" department could indicate it's someone we've never heard of.

Blimey, someone who actually gets it - I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about our entry now.

Daybreak this morning finished with Aled Jones saying "We'll be back on Monday with the Oscars winners and losers" and then cutting to Kate Garraway for Friday's Lorraine show.
Nothing unusual there to indicate an instant change.
