Mark Pougatch just confirmed on air another boxing fixture on C5 on March 22. Turning into a very busy month this!!

Sat 1st March: Boxing (DeGale)
Sat 8th March: UFC: London Live
Sat 15th March: Boxing (Maxi Nutrition Knockout)
Sat 22nd March: Boxing (Galahad)

Hopefully the regular supply of action will encourage ratings momentum.

Over 2 hours for The Voice UK seemed long but wasn't actually.
The show didn't seem to drag and I enjoyed the episode.
I think i'd rather have it in one then split across the weekend.

I have Takeaway recorded to watch Sunday after Dancing On Ice.

That's what they did before I think-Saturday and Sunday. What was good about tonight was the fact that all four coaches were involved-last time there were two coaches per show with their acts.
It was long but just about watchable for all that time.
Yeah I would agree this actually could help the viewing figures by being more evenly spread across all four judges rather than loosing the audience waiting for something to happen.

I dont know about a 140 minute running time though for an audience not to wander. Guess the results will show in the overnights and the consolidated. I think it needs to be really special for television to hang on to the audience for two hours. "Strictly Come Dancing" suffered a series ratings slide when they combined the show alongside the results over two hours in 2009 and had to change its running time and format the following series. Moria Ross later refreshed the show un 2010 before joining "The Voice" so she must br aware of scheduling pitfalls.

Perhaps the overnights will prove them right but I think they should have broken up the episodes, however im sure they know what is best in terms of chasing an audience for it.

Did we ever get any figures for the Groves v Froch fight on Sky Box Office last autumn - indeed do we ever get ratings for Box Office. Not surprising but a shame the rematch is on Box Office again as I think it would have done very well on terrestrial TV

BBC 1 just shown a trailer for Doctors on Tuesday which guest stars Lionel Blair
I wonder if it can rate higher than normal?

1.9m is it's highest rating of the year is it not?

They show a trailer for Doctors on Tuesday and nothing for the Death In Paradise finale?

They probably figure they have the audience sewn up for DIP. Agree though it does seem a bit of a random promo - they have had bigger names on Doctors than Lionel Blair.

I have gone all nostalgic thinking about the great championship fights on terrestrial - something else Sky ruined for the Nation. Good on 5 for having a go at bringing some boxing back.

Should rate well with attractive demos.

BBC1 is no stronger this January/February than it was last year.

Midwife, Death In Paradise and Silent Witness were all on last year as were new series of sitcom smash-hits Mrs Brown's Boy and Miranda plus the successful natural history series Africa. The only area were BBC1 had been stronger this winter is Saturday thanks to The Voice.
That's not true.

With Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys last year they rated much higher in the Monday 9pm hour in January. Also Africa rated better on Wednesdays at 9pm in January/February than what we have this year. They are weaker in those timeslots plus EastEnders is down on last year and The Musketeers is doing worse than Ripper Street.

What is better is that BBC1 had Sherlock back with its best ever ratings, Death In Paradise up on last year plus The Voice doing better than Let's Dance For Comic Relief and Britain's Brightest.

With the length of these Voice battlegrounds things, Charlton Heston wouldn't be out of place

Yes its hard to see any immediate movement on the Marple front, and Poirot must be off the agenda since Suchet has just completed the huge cycle.
With ITV having done a good job of the Poirot stories, I can't understand how they managed to make Marple seem so horribly wrong.

Nobody will ever better David Suchet as Poirot just like no one will better Joan Hickson as Marple - not that it will stop someone trying.

Not sure why people are picking on TVUK for this. XF/BGT/SCD all have had episodes as long if not longer in the past have they not?

I enjoyed Creek last night. Series 3 was the low point for me. Of the three Quentin runs, I only really enjoyed the first. I thought series 4 and 5 with Julia Sawalha (which have now been lumped together as series 4) were as enjoyable as the first series, though.

One is with adverts and the other isn't, so XF/BGT has an excuse for being the length it is. Its no different from people picking on and moaning when XF has long episodes.

My point is they all do it so why pick on any?

Channel 4 (inc +1)
21:00 - The Taste: 0.86m (3.6%)
22:00 - Strippers: 1.52m (9.3%)
Channel 4's couldn't attract the foodies, but they managed to lure the dirty mac brigade.

Itv has axed yet another Christine Bleakley project, her documentary series from last year 'Off The Beaten Tracks' due to dire ratings: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/c...k-show-3197338

David Walliams to be in a new Agatha Christie

"Walliams will star in a six-part series set in the 1950s, Partners in Crime, an adaptation of two Christie books featuring married sleuths Tommy and Tuppence, The Secret Adversary and N or M."

http://www.theguardian.com/media/201...stie-drama-bbc
-----------
Also the BBC are to re-do "And Then There Were None" (aka Ten Little... err I forget)

David Walliams as 'Tommy' and who could be 'Tuppence'?.

I think the 20:30 Corrie is being hit by EastEnders. Doesn't help when a lot of the soap audience seems to evaporate. Back when EastEnders was on good form ratings wise drops rarely happened (or at least not to the extent they do now).
Maybe the Coronation St audience simply isn't enthralled with what's happening in Weatherfield at the mo.

I think the Agatha Christie Estate could be partly at fault. I'm sure they wanted to do something different with Miss Marple. With ITV they succeeded.....They made it unwatchable!
