EE: Lauren?
Where did she go? Last time I remember her she was crouched by a police station cradling Jake, did she come home? And what of Jake? Did I miss something?

She seems to have been gone the last month with no explanation.
She is back this week. It will be interesting where she goes from here, people complained she was the dominant character under the previous producer of course. However she was and probably still is the most popular character with the newer generation of fans, so it's all about striking a balance |

Lauren was too overused so it was good that she had a break! Phil and Sharon have been absent as well so it's not only Lauren. Lauren won't be a dominant character anymore (Stacey will take over Lauren's role). But Lauren will continue to be used well I think

Thats odd. She must be in the square - if not then I'm a bit concerned as to what Max and Abi's priorities are

![]() Phil and Sharon are in their home planning for their new business venture - we know that. Lauren just disappeared amidst a storyline - without explanation. Stacey and Lauren are both two totally different incomparable characters... |

I've been so blissfully happy that she hasn't been on screen...sadly it cannot last forever

I mean incomparable in terms of their "roles" and what they each bring to the show.
However some bizarre voice in my head is telling me that now Lauren has walked a mile in Stacey's shoes she will become more empathetic towards her. It would be nice to see Stacey, Lauren and Whitney and Lily together with Kat and Biamca thrown in they all have a good connections and would be good to see them form a nice little team |

This is one of the things I am not fond of under DTC's current reign. The storylines are great and very linked between characters at the moment, but while these stories are underway, other characters disappear for weeks without explanation and then reappear without explanation like nothing happened and their storyline continues.
Denise and Ian are an example of this, they only reappeared in the past week but had been gone for awhile before that with no reasoning. Phil and Sharon have also seemingly gone missing. |

The last time we saw Lauren she was saying goodbye to Jake at the Brannings house as she realised that they couldn't be together, she said goodbye and then in a rare moment she broke down and was comforted by Cora. The storyline was resolved, where Jake went however is a mystery.

I think its important that some of the more prominent characters feature as extras in certain scenes with other characters, however sometimes I think its plausible, for example in Phil and Sharon's case we know that they're at home we know what they're up to as they don't particularly have any active storylines atm and realistically its nice to imagine them doing other stuff besides drinking at the vic day after day after day, but then you've got characters like Patrick and Cora that just pop up here and there and then disappear for weeks/months without mention...

Sam Womack, Steve McFadden, Adam Woodyatt was doing panto which explains why some of the characters are not present.
It did seem some of the characters mentioned had longer Christmas breaks then others. It be nice if they get a little mention, like Lauren gone to visit Tanya for example just to give it some weight to why she is absent, I notice Dot has been gone since the beginning of January, Jay and Abi have hardly had any scenes, Cindy and TJ disappeared, I know some characters are going to feature more prominently then others but still seems weird the pace and continuity seems off, hopefully it start to pick up in the next two months after everyone has come back. |

The actress is most likely due some time off. You can bet your house on her being in pretty much every episode for the rest of the year so she was probably taking some time off beforehand She's not the first character to take a few weeks off screen without it being mentioned.I'd much rather that than the implausible Bianca style prison / Manchester exits she gets on a yearly basis. Ha ha! That made me laugh. I hope we never see creepy Jake again. He always looks dirty and the character is dire.

Have never understood the attraction to Lauren. She looks like a little girl and the character is, at best, dull.

To be fair, a lot of the main actors have been away doing panto/having Christmas. As for Lauren, a nice 2 week reprieve from her has been welcomed IMO. Don't worry; by all accounts she's back soon.

I don't mind actors doing other things over Christmas or whenever for that matter, its just sensible that the writers create a reason for a CHARACTERs disappearance whenever it happens

I don't think it's necessary in this circumstance. It's entirely plausible that she's still on the square.
the BIB is correct but I still don't understand why we can't hear a character say "Lauren's still locked up in her room" or hear her shut a door as she leaves the house to go somewhere, just to reinforce the idea that she is still around. |
