Do they get penalised if the pro stumbles such as with Kyran just now?

I didn't think so but looks like the rules changed to suit

Seems to depend on who you are and whether you are a judges favourite or not. Over the years some it has been mentioned and other times completely ignored.

I think the professionals often stumble due to an error by the Celebrity though, so that should be taken into account.

Nina has stumbled a couple of times now, I felt sorry for Kyran last night.

She was behind him, so he was the only one that didn't realise she had slipped

I thought Nina was going to lose her fingers, Kyran didnt seem to have any idea she'd fallen and was skating backwards

Yes, it was quite scary for a moment! I think we sometimes underrate the bravery of the pro skaters who are taking enormous risks with inexperienced celeb partners.

Was it in the 1st series that David Seaman insisted on doing the headbanger and ended up injuring his partner - who never returned (can't say I blame her!)

Yes, she hit her face off the ice. Kay Burleys professional dropped her on her head in series 2.

I was terrified. Way too close for my liking.

Pros will often gamely take the blame, though likely it' s celeb inexperience at work. That said, aren' t they anyway judged as a couple?

I think she contributed to that as she bottled out of the move and went floppy. And she was so rude to Fred, I think he found her very difficult to handle.

Maybe just me, but I felt Kyran dropped Nina a fraction early, causing her to stumble.

BIB - No.

David didn't insist on the headbanger, it was given to them to do by T&D. David had done some really solid good lifts previously and his partner Pam O'Connor was well up for it and pushed him to do it. She missed that routine and was back the next week and she insisted he do it again, even though he didn't want to.

She was also in S2 and was partnered with Neil Fox and went out in week 1. She was never in another series which was a shame, she was a lovely skater (and was the girl skater in the Robbie video for she's the one).

If it's coming out of a lift or close partnership routine, then it is reflective of both performers. Accidents like chipping or sliding on thin angles are individual and is unfortunate whether its a Professional or a Celebrity but the grade is for the duo performance, even though the pros get fewer name-checks during the duration of the show.
