Rays scores tonight
Did anyone else think Ray didn't deserve all 10s? I thought it was quite boring and not nearly as good as when the last time he got all 10s.

No, it was way better than everybody else so 10 is all it could have been. The lift near the end with bent knee and spread was brilliant by itself

I didn't think it was a 10 across the board performance either.

I never quite understand this line of argument. The judges all vote as individuals, so if it's worth one 10, it's worth four 10s.
They score as individuals - therefore there's every chance they will give different scores.I love Ray, but was not blown away by his routine tonight, much preferred Sam's, which I would have liked Ray to have done. |

I don't think it was worth a ten this week.

I agree. Ray is heads and shoulders above the others and he is the only one I really look forward to seeing each week. He deserved those top marks.
I know Olympic skaters are in a league of their own I am not trying to compare the two because you just can't! Even the pros are all passed their sell by date! |

Yes he is far better than the rest agreed, Having said that the scoring system on this show is pathetic..Right across the board...I watched the olympic Short dance today & then turned over for this utter rubbish..It looks like their all skating in slow motion...So 4- 10s is way over the top as is 9s & 8s..

If you were to score the celebs on an Olympic scale then they would all be getting 0.0, maybe 1.0 for Ray. This is what Jason was trying to tell Nicky last week (and it is pretty rare for me to agree with anything that Jason egests). But compared to the other celebs, indeed compared to every other celeb who has ever been on Dancing on Ice, Ray outclasses them all by a considerable margin.

It was my favourite routine of the series. It looked like a beautiful coherent dance rather than individual tricks and awkward lifts as many routines seem to be.

Well for what it is worth I thought Sam's routine tonight was equally as good as Ray's and more interesting to watch. Either Sam was undermarked or Ray overmarked.

I'm sure Ray could skate as fast as some of the contestants in the Olympics, but if he did he'd be off the rink and down the street outside. You have to remember the Olympic rink is about 4 times the size one for Dancing on Ice. They can only skate the routines they've been given, which have been tailored for the size of the rink.

Possibly not but if he skates last, makes no mistakes, and skates far better than everyone else then you have to give him a 10 if you have given the others 9 or 9.5. If they don't want this to happen then let him skate first, mark him accordingly, then mark the others in comparison to him.

He is scored on what he does and at the end of the day it is head and shoulders above the rest.... the lifts he did are high grade Olympic lifts ... the triple Axel he did the other week is of high difficulty in the Olympics and as above he can't use speed to his potential as the rink is to small.... I did comment last week that the difference between the pairs I watched on the Olympics made dio hard to watch as the difference but they are All celebrities (ish) and never will be and expected to be half as good as Olympic skaters but on merit and compaired to lifts others do ray is comparable to and IMO better than a few pro skaters we have seen over the 9 years ... he made that routean and content is very good so unless the others got 6 to 7 meaning 8.5 was the highest ray deserves the 10 every week to me

Exactly Sandra. Watched it with my parents tonight and my dad said "they're saving all the 10s for Golden Balls".
It has always been thus. Torvill and Dean would have been pretty unlikely to get 6.0 across the board if they had skated first in their Olympic final but they didn't skate first, I think if memory serves they skated last. |

I don't think this week's performance was as good as his previous 10-scoring routines, but marking it less would look odd considering everybody else's scores.

I loved the routine tonight, the part on the ice at the beginning was beautiful. I didn't realise it was the one they choreographed themselves until the end when Ray said. To me that made it even better, definitely think it was worth 10s.

What annoyed me is when Jason said about him not requiring the big tricks or any of the lifts when that's what your supposed to do. And Jason has criticized other male celebrities for not doing them in the past.
