My husbands been having trouble with his stomach for a few years. Hes been to the doctors had cameras up and down . In the end the doctor suggested him seeing a homeopath.

Now hes been seeing her for about 12 months and shes really helped. But his problem has flared up again and shes recommended cutting sugar out of his diet see if that helps.

He doesn't have that much sugar in his diet. He doesn't drink tea or coffee. He stopped with fizzy drinks.

His one vice is ice cream ! Hes been mithering me to find out just how much sugar is in ice cream? All I can find is in grams anyone know how much it is in teaspoons

I was looking at this the other day...

In 100ml (a fifth of a typical Ben & Jerrys or Haagen Dazs tub) there is between 15 and 30 grams of sugar. Around 5 grams is natural sugar (from the milk).

So there is between 10 and 25 grams of added sugar per 100ml depending on the flavour.

In a full 500ml tub, theres between 50 grams and 125 grams added sugar. That is quite a lot. In a Mars Bar there are 30 grams of sugar. In a can of coke, theres around 35 grams of sugar.

Brief example:

A tub of Ben and Jerrys Phish Food (30g sugar per 100ml) contains the same amount of added sugar as 4 Mars Bars or almost 4 cans of coke!

But a tub of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream (13g sugar per 100ml) will contain the same amount of added sugar in just over 1 Mars Bar or can of coke.

Lots.

Ice-cream is just cream blended with sugar.

If you ate it hot (when it's heated to make a custard before freezing) you'd find it very sickly.
