As regards this forum, the best phrase I found to explain this is "getting away with murder". She may be able to do more than she's showing but so far, she's doing the bare minimum (for an all-star series) of skating, a heck of a lot of performing and still sending the judges into raptures. It's not like Ray who, like him or not, is still showing himself to be an excellent skater. She's getting away with absent skating skills while Beth, who is producing far more technically, is getting slated for supposed absent performing skills.
It looks like favouritism. One celeb can get away with technical basics (comparatively) because of superior performing skills but another can't do the same with performance basics even though their skating skills are clearly superior.
Hayley could arguably skate as well as anyone in her series so she won comfortably. Now, however, she can't and those who care about such things are vocalising their displeasure.”
its more than that - she's not only skating less in a majority of her routines, but she's not being tasked to do what Beth, Bonnie, or Suzanne are - bigger lifts and bigger tricks. that leaves her doing what she's good at and was aggravated when others who could do the same routines didn't get them.Thats not her fault.
There's a variety of explanations. One is that she can't be given what she can't do - so, like Ray and big lifts, she doesn't get it to do. we don't know either what the limiting factor is either - her or Dan. She's actually been doing less in recent routines which suggests something even odder is going on - possibly work commitments?
Its made worse by the bizarre inconsistent judging - which notes all of Hayley's weaknesses - but continues to give her very high marks. Worse its criticised other people for struggling with what she hasn't been asked to do, and not doing enough difficulty when they have been doing far more than Hayley. Its also marked her up for getting consistently better, if limited, routines - confusing marking the choregraphy with marking the performance of what was given. You can explain that as favouritism, or just terrible judging. There's actually no room for argument about that -as all the judges have raised the same same issues - while giving the high marks still. Bizarrely, they seemed to turn on her too last week, declaring suzanne as a better contender - just in time for her to be ejected.
They now have buried the case for Hayley winning with last week's analysis - its going to be interesting to see if they resurrect her, or just give up on pretending there's a competition left.
