Whole World is Watching (ft. Dave Pirner) has been played 19 times by BBC radio 2 over the last week or so.A playlisted last week + week following Saturday 9th Aug.Also getting play on Magic (Bauer) radio.

And We Run [ft. Xzibit] has been played 23 times on Kerrang (bauer radio also) over last month, plus some Planet Rock play (they play alot of their older stuff as well).
Perhaps they will get the mainstream attention Evanesance got mid 2003 onwards, but faded away badly.Ice Queen by Within Temptation was released 2002 as a single by the way.A popular early song.

Good to see they are getting some mainstream attention now.
.It's taken a while for this album to get noticed though .It passed me by to a certain extent even
Some BBC TV support would be welcomed .The popularity is there to justify that.

Went to see them live in Birmingham O2 when Anneke van Giersbergen supported them (a favourite of mine) a few years back.A classy band - popular, versatile with it as well.

I first saw Within Temptation when they supported Iron Maiden @ Twickenham in 2008 and even though they were third on the bill they made a real impressiion and I've followed them ever since. I've seen them five times now.

They've been huge in Europe for a long time and it is only with the last couple of albums, The Unforgiving and Hydra, that they have really started to become popular in the UK. The Unforgiving tour was the first time they had played the UK in 2008 and when I saw them @ Brixton Academy Sharon said the last time they played there, in 2007, it was barely half-full so she was genuinely amazed it was sold out as was the whole of that UK tour.

A very good introduction to their earlier work is Black Symphony, a live CD/DVD/Blu-ray set recorded with the The Metropole Orchestra. It is quite brilliant.

I like it. The stand out tracks for me are Edge of the World and Paradise (What About Us) (I'm in love with Tarja, sue me ).

It definitely is good to see them getting some mainstream attention.

I'd pretty much given up on this band - The last couple of albums have been huge letdown (Unforgiven was an absolutely shite album). But I've noticed Hydra is getting good reviews, is it really a return to form?

Unforgiven is their best album as far as I'm concerned.

Of course it's all a matter of taste - their style has changed. More harder-rock mixed with symphonic elements as opposed to the symphonically focused style of their earlier material.

Hydra is much the same as Unforgiven in style, so if you didn't like it, then don't bother.

Ahh think i'll stay away then - Mother Earth to me was their peak for me. Unforgiven just felt like an Evanesance album to me (and that is a very, very bad thing).

I find most of Evanesance's stuff sub par. There's a big disparity between their good stuff (about 3 songs ) & their bad stuff (most of their other stuff).Could go further but it's been well discussed.

Within Tempation are a much more rounded & skilled band.I'm sure they could experiment more, the musicianship is there. They could have kept their sound more underground, this might have resulted in them breaking up all together.Within Temptation have had a little bit of a 'roundabout' with their members.Even though they have introduced more melodic / commercial / more mainstream elements to their sound, they still keep it sounding interesting. The latest album has subtle differences to their last even. They are not cookie cutters - a comment I read about about them once at the bottom of a blog.

The last two albums are much more mainstream than their earlier, more Gothic, albums and, to be honest I don't think they'll return to that as they have mainstream commercial success now.

The most dissapointing aspect of that for me is that on the Hyrda tour their set list was basically the last two albums plus Ice Queen and Mother Earth. We saw them @ Wembley Arena and it was pretty obvious that a great many there had never heard either of the last two songs. Although that is in many ways inevitable as most people in this country only know them from the last two albums.

I saw them live in Glasgow earlier in the year and they were phenomenal, not many artists can sing as good live as Sharon.
