I am on a diet myself an just wanted to know how many people are on a diet themselves?

I'm on an extreme calorie control diet and can't have much.

Have any of you had much luck with weight loss on your current diet?

I have lost a stone in a month.

How much have you lost and in what amount of time?

Lost 5 stones last year and just started again to try and get some more off.

I am counting calories, no sugar and low carb, it's actually not too bad because you can fill up on veggies so don't feel hungry all the time, and no sugar means no sugar cravings so that's easier too.

Wow, well done guys that's terrific!

I'm not on a diet and never have been but I do do a lot of exercise which keeps me from ballooning up, plus I don't eat ready meals or that sort of thing.

Gr8 to read of such good results here

I have never dieted before as most of my adult life I would always eat loads !!!! [ far more than most men ]
... but I was always very active and ....always [@ 5' 6"]
I stayed at....the 9 stone 3 lbs mark all my adult life
till more recent years

But since last Autumn I have been aiming to cut down on calories most days & hoping to get back to weighing less
I have actually lost just over 2 & a 1/2 stones so far .
But it has fluctuated lately ...up a little bit then ..down a little bit ..

I've hit that too - more exercise and a better diet means I've lost 1.5 stone, but the last 7lb to a 'healthy' BMI just wont shift

Not a diet as such, but I have cut down a lot. I lost 4 stones a couple of years ago and am determined to keep it off (ideally lose a few more pounds, or a couple of inches off my waist).
I eat smaller portions, cook my own food instead of eating ready meals and/or takeaways and cut down on all the 'crap' , sweets, biscuits and crisps etc.
I am posting each days meal plans on the 'what have you eaten today' thread, if anyone is interested in my 'healthy eating' plan. Unfortunately I have eaten some extra snacks today, but nothing too bad.
Should add, I do a fair amount of exercise as well, so I feel quite fit and healthy.

I control my weight with intermittent fasting. If I eat normally, my weight drifts up slowly (about 1kg/month). If I have one fast day a week, it drifts down slowly. I'm not sure it counts as a diet as I expect to continue with several fast days a month indefinitely.

(My "fast day" means no food for 18 hours, then a light meal in the evening. 600 kcal in 32 hours.)

I'm down a stone so far this year through a combination of better eating (trying to do 5:2 and failing but still try to do two sub-1000 calorie days each week) and cutting back on alcohol. I did the dry January and I'm only drinking twice a week this month. I still don't do much exercise as I'm a lazy bugger.

Ideally I'd like to lose another 2-3 stone but I want to do it gradually by introducing a better lifestyle than doing a crash diet that will just rebound afterwards.

Well done & Good luck
The Good news is that we are all keeping at it
even if it is SLOWLY but surely
even if we have a few iddy biddy blips along the way

I have put 4 stones on since I stopped smoking. When I got on the scales three weeks ago and saw I weighed 17 stone 13 lbs I felt sick, and very disappointed with myself!

Since then I've been religiously logging everything on My Fitness Pal and have lost 13 pounds. Still a long way to go but it's a start. I don't want be wearing a size 20 for long!

I've lost 3 1/2 stone since being diagnosed with diabetes at the end of September. I stuck with the NHS 'healthy eating' plan that was actually very little different from the SW plan I'd been failing to lose weight on for around 15 years.

Then I started a low carb diet and I've been losing weight. The main aim was to get my blood sugar under control, which the 'healthy' approach wasn't doing (quite the reverse - my morning readings were getting worse). Losing the weight has been a side-effect, albeit a very welcome one.

lost 8kg so far this year without working out due to injuries. Just stopped eating crap, smaller portions, more water and something a lot of people underestimate MORE SLEEP.

I fail at dieting miserably so I just try and get exercise and eat relatively healthy I tend to hover between 12 and a half and 13 stone so for a 5ft 10 male its bordering between healthy and overweight but as I love food dieting is just too much hard work.

Yes I started on the NHS advice using their healthy eating plan didn't lose an ounce and my blood sugars were all over the place. When I had my recent diabetic check nurse went mad at my having eggs every morning but her idea (and I did try it) of cereal just made e hungry mid morning and my blood sugar dropped so badly I nearly got taken to hospital !

Personally I now don't believe a word they say about diet I think they either want us all on medication to regulate our BSs or they have not researched what works and what doesn't at all.

Why did she go mad at you for having eggs? She sounds like she hasn't got a clue about diet and nutrition. Eggs are a great breakfast as they're high in protein and even netter mixed with something like smoked salmon and avocado and will keep you full for much longer than most cereals, especially so called 'diet' cereals like Special K. I can't believe they dish this advice out to people!

She didn't give a reason just kept muttering darkly about eating so many eggs, she had much the same reaction when I refused to try benecol even with her money off coupon.

Jesus! There's no need for most people to have vitamin supplements if they have a balanced diet. You did well to ignore her.
