The point I was trying to make was that none of the content is or was ever free:
WIth lovefilm's streaming service, you paid a sub and could watch everything they had available to stram. What I don't remember ever seeing was an additional charge to stream particular content - you mention it did exist, which I had never seen, but you do say that might have been scrapped after a while, so possibly why I never saw this. What I find annoying "post migration" is that content I could see on tuesday, for no further cost other than the subscription, Amazon now wants to charge an extra fee. A bit like paying for an all-you-can eat buffet but finding anything with meat in is an extra fee.... Anyway, I've since spoken to Amazon and they say that for my specific example, that they are going to negotiate rights to stream it... Did they really not see that one coming then? I asked if there is much content like this and apparently its "a long list". As a temporary fix, they've credited the specific series to my account so I can continue to watch what I want to for the moment. The only difference now is when it happens now rather than having to head to iTunes or Blinkbox to keep watching you can do so directly from Amazon. I don't think that's an awful thing myself. Also it allows them to offer seasons which aren't being released for subscription streaming yet to be made available,. A number of people for example have Ben complaining about Hawaii five-o requiring payment for season 3 but season 3 was never available on Lovefilm as its still covered in the streaming rights that are part of Sky's first run TV deal. Its usually 12-18months after the TV airings that they show up on streaming so we still have a good few months |

That's actually quite a helpful response from Amazon. They obviously don't want to lose any customers! It shows that it's worth contacting them if you are not happy about something, rather than just putting up with it.
They don't need emails to help decide if a titles worth renewing. They have the metrics to hand so know without any input what the rights are worth to them. It all comes down to what the copyright owner is asking for the rights (both in upfront and per stream fees) The copyright owners want to be able to sell them on exclusive basis as it gets them better return and more often than not will let them expire to out pressure on the streaming service to give into their demands while shopping it to other services. |

Former Lovefilm (post & streaming) customer of about 5 years - here's a few things (apologies if already covered/mentioned) re my own gripes/observations:-
1. Charges for service - Paid £9.99 a month before - doing the same for 2 discs posted (unlimited) and Prime streaming. The charge is split in 2 - £5.99 for Prime & £4 for posted titles per month. Personally I have no issues with this at all. 2. Layout of site - No longer "looks" like a film site, more of a...well...Amazon shopping site! I guess initially it is strange, but over time might get used to it (just like the DS site changes recently!). 3. Usability of Lovefilm by Post - Changes are needed to rectify some glaring errors - Reserved list not in alphabetical order (or it would seem - any order!), history of titles rented only goes to 60 - not full complete list you could check as before, some titles you had on your previous reserved list that were "currently unavailable" have disappeared - whilst many others remain! Change is always a difficult thing - Amazon could have done this a lot better given their resources. Possibly their long term plan is to phase out Lovefilm by Post. |

They have added Once Upon A Time so it follows that S3 will be on there at some point- good news for fans now that this is dropped on CH 5. Also two seasons of grim were added today.
I think the content is definitely better with the change. |

I think something is not right, I can't play this series back on my Xbox One, it says its £0.00 to watch on Prime Instant Video which I'm subscribing to. I can't even play it back on my laptop.

Quite a few reports of issues with Samsung TV's on the Amazon forums, it has been acknowledged but no mention of when it will be fixed
The minimum requirements have also changed (from reading it), only Samsung devices 2012 or later are now compatible |

I would offer you the advice you gave me - email them and see what their response is. BTW the same issue (as stated in earlier post) affects the titles seen - restricted to only 60, and not your complete list - very annoying, as unless you have a separate record of films watched (as I have) it will be a nightmare trying to remember what you've seen over the duration of your membership!

I just tried just now and it now is working on my Samsung TV which is a 2011 model. So it appears that the amount of complaints made Amazon do something about it.

You aren't understanding how the rental list is supposed to work. You aren't supposed to try and play the system. You are simply supposed to add a title and then decide how important it is to see it. If its something that's important enough that if its in stock you want it next then you set it as high otherwise you set it as normal or low

Still having trouble with my Lovefilm by Post subscription, or basically the fact my subscription hasn't been carried over from LoveFilm, been in touch with customer service and said this was due to an error that they didn't specify. I re-linked my accounts at their request but still the same, saying that i'm not a subscribed member (Even though I was on Lovefilm, I have Thor: The Dark World staring at me as I type this).
Anyone else encountered this? I've looked through a few pages but couldn't see anything. The streaming service is improved for me from the old lovefilm one via my Sony Blu-Ray player I must admit. |

Unusual. With every deal like this it's normally on a per season or block of seasons basis as opposed to a whole show run but we'll see.
