Spoke to them on the phone this week and the latest is:-

Previously rented list is to be extended to show all/complete titles - currently working through this.

I miss the new Monday releases going onto rental lists (and in some cases being despatched) the previous Thursday.
Also would be really nice to have reserved titles sorted by date.
It's odd too not being able to see in the morning which title is pending despatch. Sometimes my list doesn't update until 5pm with the disc coming my way.

Great news! Thanks for the info.

Hi

Im suprised they havent updated the App on consoles/smart fones/tablets. The App no longer needs to mention Love Film.

Mine too. This is better than before. Doesn't show any star ratings though, and, oddly, has the option to 'remove' titles from the list.

At least they're working on it.

Good news, but if you've got time to phone them over such a trivial matter, then I'm afraid you need to sort out your priorities!

I guess with the launch today of the Chromecast in the UK it's more strange than it was before that you can't stream Amazon video on Android devices other than the Kindle Fire. A really silly omission.

I know the reason given is that, unlike iOS devices, there are so many Android devices, all of which are different, but that hasn't stopped Netflix.

Netflix however weren't quick at rolling it out on Android. It was available on iOS well before andorid and they rolled it out device by device. Its also still not available on every device.

It will come down to a fact of does the potential userbase justify the required development time and cost for the various Android versions. This is pretty hard to say because while there may be more Android devices out there than iOS ones the fragmentation of the Android market means its not that obvious that it does justify it.

They have deemed it worthwhile on the Kindle Fire's and also deemed it viable for the Android Powered Google TV's but they obviously feel outside these the number of users for the time/money spent on them is better served elsewhere

On my phone, the rental list is too plain, and changing the priority of the discs is a nightmare. Downloading the offical Android app helps things somewhat, but it's terribly slow. Granted, streaming is the future, but the whole changover is badly structured, integrating it into their shopping website which, at least, has always been reliable in my experience.

Still, better not complain, better have my two penneth and crawl back under my rock like a good little Englishman...”

Are you some kind of complaint police? You contradict yourself - On one hand you post that we all just skulk off, the other.... well FYI I was speaking to them on several matters - maybe you should examine the triviality of your own posts before you pass comment on others. Hilarious.

And I'M the "complaint police" in this equation? Oh, the irony....

Ok, so we've cleared up that you weren't just phoning them to complain about that, but maybe if you'd mentioned that in the first place, then I wouldn't've posted what I did. And my own posts are not trivial, I just thought that anyone who actually phoned them about it rather than a simpler email was crossing the line in terms of pedantry. Admittedly, I kind of realised what you said after I'd posted it, but I thought I'd wait to see if you fell into the oh-so-predictable DS trap of checking through a poster's previous posts to prove your point. You fell right into it. Equally hilarious!

Tedious. You will be picked up on contradictory statements if that means going back to quote your posts - if you contradict yourself then you'll be picked up on it - simple. What part of that don't you understand in the setting of a debate/discussion and as part of DS forum? It happens in plenty of other threads.

Whether I used the phone or emailed them is a minor point - you seem to judge someone by the means of communication they use! FYI the process was email - matters unresolved - they phoned me, but your rude assertion that I need to sort out my priorities is frankly none of your business. So when the debate veers into rudeness I no longer discuss. End of conversation with you and no more replies to you on the matter.

*Yawn* Equally tedious! The old "I'm-losing-the-argument-so-I'm-not-going-to-talk-to-you-anymore" routine-another DS classic! And again, you FAILED to mention that THEY phoned YOU before! You see my point about being SPECIFIC! You alos need to accept that DS users will make biting comments, and ones, that, in my case, have a touch of black humour in them-what part of that don't YOU understand about these forums? You didn't need to respond if you think you're so above it all, but hey, that's life, I guess. I stand by what I said about Lovefilm. As long as they iron out the teething problems with the switchover, things will be fine, don't worry! They're getting there!

I am finding the Amazon prime service quite poor , I was half way thru watching a series that was included in the content then in the space of an hour yesterday the whole 5 series was switched to behind the extra paywall so it is now only available to watch if you rent or buy it, I am getting rid of Amazon now and sticking to netflix

The same happens with Netflix though. Only difference is when the rights expire on Netflix you don't have the ability to purchase the episodes you still need to watch.

If your watching a show stick it in your watchlist and keep an eye on the expiry date

Amazon don't appear to display when the expiry date is now though. When it was Lovefilm it would display the expiry date 90 days before hand. So you had plenty of warning.

It still shows them. I found a few myself by adding some random titles to my watchlist and the following have expiry dates. Ugly Betty, Losers and Last Exorcism

I watched Predator 3D last night on Blu-Ray, and really enjoyed it. Because Amazon Instant is part of Amazon Prime now, i'm getting 3 at a time unlimited movies for just £7.20 a month, so no complaining from me

I meant Lovefilm. I have seen expiry dates on Netflix but the one's I have seen are very short notice. Normally no more than a week's notice.

I used to subscribe to Lovefilm but stopped about a year ago when they ditched the game rental service. I was wondering about the new model now the streaming is a part of prime. How does the rental by post work. Do you have to be a member of the prime service or can you just get the disc rental ? I believe you have to pay extra on top of prime for the discs how much is this for say the 3 disc option ?

It seems as though you have to add the title to your watchlist to see the expiry date though which is a bit stupid. Also it doesn't seem to give you much warning because the film "Blood Simple" which is in my watchlist is now saying it is expiring in 6 days! When it was Lovefilm it notified you from 90 days down which was plenty of warning.

Its needed to be on your watchlist to show expiry dates ever since watchlists were added. It makes sense really as that's the point of the watchlist after all.

And are you sure it was 90 days. Longest I've ever seen is 30 days even before the switch. I've seen titles on my watchlist since the switch show 17 days so Amazons may be showing longer.

With Netflix though I know it depends on the studio and the contract on the warning they can give
