Not much good when your tv or box is not compatible with streamed channels (I'm using the Tesco Technika box which doesn't pick them up).

If anyone is considering buying Freeview equipment, I would recommend staying away from supermarket brands. Sony, Panasonic, LG and Samsung are broadly working towards making all of their most recent TVs compatible with streamed channels, Connected Red Button and catch up TV.
It is tough for those who got 2010-2012 Freeview HD devices (with the exception of TVonics for streamed channels), as these additional functions will generally not be supported by any brand, and the cheaper brands don't seem to be bothered about providing updates to make the streamed services work properly. |

The same date as London Mux launch.Would also be a good time to remove LCN 87 Community Channel Placeholder and sort out LCN 302 & 303.I also have a feeling that the second local tv channel we start broadcasting on 10/3/14 using LCN 65 thire for triggering a EPG reshuffle.

...and the London mux is now live, so a moot point
Back to Motors TV, you can use the Vision TV Network list of compatible devices as a yardstick (but not the Roku listed there), as both are customers of Connect TV. |

Will this be free to view? if so that is excellent news and a great move forward for both Motors TV and IPTV.
Shame BT Sport, Eurosport don't do some deal to get IPTV on the go via a freeviee box and clearly subscription. |

True but would there not be a market place for someone like that vutv to offer a complete sports package with BT/SS/Eurosport?

http://www.motorstv.com/motors-tv-no...ew-channel-240
From Thursday 27 February Motors TV UK will be available on Freeview channel 240. For the first time anyone with an internet-connected Freeview HD or Freeview+HD product (box or TV) can enjoy full, subscription-free access to the High Speed Television Channel thanks to Arqiva’s Connect TV service. Just as you would on either Sky or Virgin Media, simply select Motors TV from the EPG or dial 240 on your remote control to view the widest range of live, delayed and highlights motor sport coverage on television. While most Freeview+HD boxes will automatically detect the Motors TV signal, others might initially require re-tuning. For further details, and information on compatible Freeview HD/Freeview+HD products, please visit http://www.connect-tv.tv/faq.aspx. *Available on selected products only. |

I rarely look at Freeview (I have it via a communal aerial in a block of flats) because I have Virgin cable..........
But I noticed this thread last night and thought that I'd never seen any TV channels on Freeview higher than the 80s (I don't have HD or streaming) So I flicked over and when through the channels to see if anything was there.......imagine my surprise when I saw a couple of porn channels broadcasting in the 170s !........... ![]() not encrypted......... |

If you think the likes of Babestation constitutes 'porn' then I feel sorry for you.

Indeed, as Virgin Media doesn't carry these sex-line channels, it can be quite a surprise to find this type of dross on Freeview.
Once a channel has carriage, it gets assigned an LCN. DigitalUK are unable to refuse to allocate one. |

Do you mean the actual programming starts on Thursday? As the mux has been available for a few weeks now.
Eurosport has their Eurosport player available as an app for smart TVs. Darren |

That's the danger of a free market. Whilst VM, Sky, Freesat etc get final say on what goes into the EPG and can refuse to carry channels, on Freeview it's a competitive and integrated environment for carriage. If, for example, SDN refused to carry Babestation, they would just go and ask Arqiva. Unless the content is prohibited by their licence, there's no reason for a mux operator to turn a channel down for carriage.

Most of the other streamed channels are on ArqB - would Arqiva announce it was going to be on Freeview/Connect TV if it was SDN hosting it? If you knew how much bandwidth a streamed channel took up on a mux then you could work out which mux had space, or just wait until midday tomorrow
![]() The actual channel stream will be delivered over the internet, all that is needed on DTT is a single MHEG stream on each multiplex linking the internet streams to an LCN. Not very much space at all. |
