Equally, the Connect TV service, to my understanding, works on a blacklist approach, where receivers that didn't handle Connect TV correctly were blacklisted.
Increasingly, the whilelist approach, where individual receivers are tested and approved beforehand offers a level of reassurance for consumers.
It is also noteworthy that the streamed channel services from Connect and Synapse TV are more likely to be compatible on TVs rather than PVRs - there are relatively few PVRs on the list compared to TVs, although I'm pleased to see that another TVOnics PVR has entered the VuTV whitelist of devices.
Re: YouView:
It is my understanding that Arqiva would have liked Connect TV to be on YouView. However, with BT and TalkTalk it's two against one. This stance and other issues that have occurred really underlines the recent thinking that the Freeview shareholders should reduce or withdraw their stake in YouView, as it can't be seen as an open platform, and concentrate on their own connected Freeview solution by bringing in a standard for catch-up TV services and streamed channels that work on modern Smart TVs.
