my fault for being lazy and not using a hyphen I'm assuming Shopto will have a finance option so I may take that route if it costs more than expected. Im looking for some Move controllers now, all the ones in my local Game have gone (£6 last I heard) |

I won't get too excited about it as they only filed a patent. When they announce it or when we see real pictures, Ill consider it.
Still nice that theyre exploring new, old ways of interaction. |

You might want to prepare your kids for disappointment.
Updated Health and Safety info in firmware 3.50 days the VR headset in not for use by under 12s. https://twitter.com/ps4vrnews/status/706056875285028864 Not that anyone actually listens the that kind of stuff. And I'd NEVER leave my kids unattended with it anyway. That little baby ain't getting dropped. |

I still have a hunch we'll see a summer launch. There's quite a bit of low-key stuff going on at the moment. Big reveal next Tuesday, pre-orders will open on Wednesday, on the shop shelves within a few months.

![]() Actually on the topic of pre-ordering, Rift and Vive both retail from on online store. Physical stores might get them into stock later this year but the likes of Sony and MS said that they need physical stores to sell their hardware. This is why they arent competitive with pricing their games on the console stores apparently. Could this be a shift towards the companies been less dependent on physical stores to sell their hardware and software ? Or is it just because of the products in question, Rift and Vive are high end luxury items and the type of people who buy them will do so from an online store, as they're not really aimed at the "casual" market, who are more likely to buy from physical stores ? |

VR is a fledgling consumer product and I don't think anyone really knows how it's going to go. The last thing Oculus / HTC will want to do is flood supply chains with large amount of product just for it to sit around. Or ship millions of units to the US while Europe runs dry. Not having a retailer mark-up is possibly keeping the prices a little less ridiculous too. Sony are a dab hand at this sort of thing now. We might see a slightly staggered launch, with the US going on sale a couple of weeks before other territories, but I'd be surprised if they weren't in stores on day 1. (GAME are already talking about holding in-store demo sessions for PSVR. I reckon they'll have a lot more to say on the 16th.) |

Daily Mail are claiming the PSVR is set to launch next week
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Of course, with the Daily Mail being the Daily Mail, that means PSVR is almost guaranteed a Christmas release date now, but could you imagine if they pulled a Sega Genesis with PSVR?! That would definitely be exciting to say the least and it'd give them the advantage over Oculus and HTC Vive |

I had to go searching for the article.
They reckon the press conference next week will be the launch of it. Thats not going to be right. They also claim its going to be £800 as thats the price Amazon Canada had up months ago as a placeholder. Pppfftt, fcuk off Daily Mail. Stick to your politics and away from fun stuff. |

To be fair to the DM here (ugh, I can't believe I just said that) they said it'd cost 800 candian dollars, which is the equivalent of roughly £420, which I could see being a realistic price point. Not saying their info is at all accurate of course, but the price seems relatively accurate at least.

However, earlier this year, a listing on Amazon's Canada site appearing to have been posted by accident revealed the headset will cost $1,125 CAD, which converts to $800 USD or £770. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...ate-price.html
The price was removed shortly after and Sony said in a statement: 'This was an error by Amazon, we haven't announced price for PlayStation VR.' |

Not a chance is it going to be that much. It would be commercial suicide for the product if it cost more than £500.

This may be clutching at straws here but the latest Playstation 3.50 firmware update contains all kinds of new info about Playstation VR including a disclaimer that it's not to be used by anyone below the age of 12.
Seems awfully odd that they'd put that on the PS4 now if PSVR is still a ways off... Could the rumours that they're going to hard launch it actually hold some weight? |

Reading in Play magazine that it is connected to the PS4 and TV via a lead and a box - i kind of always thought it would be wireless so am a little disappointed with this, especially as you can guarantee that the lead will not be long enough - I sit about 15 feet away from my TV so that is going to be a real issue for me.

I can see future versions of VR headsets doing this as faster Wi-Fi becomes less expensive but ATM cost is already to high to even consider it. |
