I mentioned above that I think for some games you might need them, but I'm not 100% on that.

For VR it's decent value, although Gear VR and Cardboard will do for most.

But you're looking at over £400 once you add in games and controllers, camera etc. Not a hardcore gamer myself and couldn't possibly justify that expense so will wait a year or so.

I think it depends on the game. Some are designed to have a controller in each hand so obviously two Moves would be more practical than two Dualshock4's, although I suppose you try using two DS4's.

Was just watching a "PSVR: 20 things you need to know" video on PlayStation Access and they said that every PSVR game willsupport the DS4.

So No, you don't have to get the Move controllers (but if you can get them cheap then why not).

Have to say that I really wasn't that interested in it before but it will now be something that I would definitely get maybe around Christmas, if they are in stock.

Seems lots of other people are interested.

You're not alone, I think I've been burned too many times by the latest must have gadget.

Over the years I've had Steering Wheels, Flight sticks, HD-DVD players, an N-Gage ( ) The Wii, Plastic musical instruments, Kinect, 3D (and plenty of others I can't remember just now). None of these gadgets have been used beyond the initial honeymoon period. I think I like the idea of things better than the practicalities.
I'll be biding my time with VR.

You're not alone. There's a lot of hype for VR at the moment, but a lot of sceptism too.

But as I replied to someone maybe yesterday, if you see a demo unit in a shop, or if you can get your hands on a friends headset, then do try it. It is amazing.

There are a lot of companies getting involved in VR (Sony, HTC, AMD, Google etc.) so there is lots of support for it, so it's not just a gimmicky controller or feature released by one company. VR is going to be phenonomely huge in the future and this is just the start of it.

I'm very curious to try this but at the moment I will probably wait until it has been out about a year to see how the market settles down.

I will will also add a huge pinch of salt to the last part as I fear the companies PR machines are trying to say buy this must have gadget when I fear it will end up going a very similar way to 3DTV.

I can see VR becoming very popular for all audio visual activities. Rather than buying a 50" tv and expensive sound system you could just wear a head unit that replicates a truly immersive experience. Also it reduces the temptation to second screen.

I'm more sceptical about whether they will be able to develop games that really take advantage of the VR aspect. It not sure if move controllers are enough to give you the depth you would want for a long term experience. I reckon it could be like the Wii were everyone is amazed for the first few weeks and then loses interest.

My only real concern about VR is comfort, sounds so simple doesn't it but playing a game for several hours (which is nothing really) with a headset on could be problematic and it's not an issue that can be decided on with a try before you buy in a shop.

Other than that I think VR will be a great experience, I will hopefully get to try it for myself.

I really think this is being overly optimistic. Most people don't even feel comfortable wearing a pair of 3D glasses, can't see them suddenly wanting to wear something that effectively cuts you off from your surroundings completely.

If it works the way it's promised then I'll definitely be more interested, just not convinced by it yet. Think it has the potential for Wii style shovel ware too!

I think people are right to be cautious.

But, when you talk to people that have actually tried it (including myself) the opinions are usually positive.

This might all sound like hyperbole, but good VR is capable of transporting you to another place, putting you inside the game world. All of my high-end VR experiences have been in crowded, noisy exhibition halls and within moments you forget where you are and are totally immersed.

The Move controllers aren't just glorified pointers as Wii remotes were. They offer true 1:1 tracking and can simulate real hand and arm movements in real time.

Many games will use a DS4 so there's no reason whey they will be any less complex than games we already play.

So if you are on the fence, that's cool. Let's not let this be a gimmick. Let's make the VR companies work for this. But please, do try it out when you get the chance, because I think many of you will be pleasantly surprised.

What do you have to do to move around? Walk on the spot? Walk round your room? Or still control it with your joypad?

Say your in a FPS game and you get shot, you wont feel anything other than a rumble on your joypad?

Obviously I wasnt expecting the user to get the full effect of being shot in the head at close range, but how is it going to deal with things like that?

Gosh, no. Most people aren't interested in this. Most people aren't interested in non-casual video games. Most people aren't interested in fly-fishing. Most people aren't interest in competitive eating. And yet, these things all survive, somehow, despite most people's lack of interest.

There's nothing wrong with not being interested in something.

It is peculiar the number of people who aren't interested in VR, yet they're determined to tell everyone, at length, precisely WHY they're not interested, revealing quite a profound interest, albeit a negative one.

You don't half ask a lot of questions, for someone who isn't interested in it.

I've pre-ordered it, however, I'm fully expecting the first year to be a bit on the "light" side with regards to content. Which, to be honest, I'm okay with.

I'd much rather have devs get to grips with the tech and take time on their respective projects, than have a bunch of launch titles and f*ck all else noteworthy *cough* Vita *cough*

What I'll be interested in, is seeing how the devs handle the "longevity" of PSVR. As in, will this be a thing which you love for roughly a week before the novelty factor wears off and what you're left with is a glorified paperweight, like the Wii?

If they find a way to keep us coming back for more, over and over again, without it feeling too "gimmicky", then I'd say that'd make PSVR a success.

im very interested in, it im looking for something new. i have to admit to becoming increasingly bored of gaming this gen because its basically the same as last gen but with better graphics.

I've invested in some gimmicks before, will wait this time round and see if this one takes off before spending that sort of money.

I presume you still move with analogue sticks but obviously it appears like your actually in the creepy castle, battlefield or whatever moving around, and you can look in all directions.

But you are the star here. People like me should be thanking people like you. It's people like you that spend hundreds of pounds on something you've never even played before and when enough people like yourself do that, not only will developers get more hands on but you will literally make that price drop so that in time people like myself, if we like it, can go out and buy it at a cheaper price and play games that have already been tweaked and optimized to the technologies full potential.
