I gamed on a PC before, then switched to PS3 for 5 years, and then switched back to PC. I'm willing to switch. I don't agree PC people are a different kind of person to console people. I'm happy to switch. It still might happen, if the content on PSVR turns out to be more compelling. |

I'm not yet convinced that cinematic mode will be anything more than just a fun diversion for the product and I can't see me using it much other than maybe for some of my 3d movies for a more immersive 3d. |

There are many similar apps for other VR devices already. Unfortunately the effect sounds better than it actually is. Very difficult to fool your brain into thinking you're looking at a screen bigger than what it actually is.

One thing to remember is that the VR HD display is already split for each eye giving you half the resolution. Also the cinematic mode displays a VR representation of a movie screen. So the actual resolution of the movie you watch will be less than that. I think for cinematic mode to really be good you would need closer to a 4k display so each eye gets a full HD image.
I'm not yet convinced that cinematic mode will be anything more than just a fun diversion for the product and I can't see me using it much other than maybe for some of my 3d movies for a more immersive 3d. |

Besides, as we don't have an exact launch date yet, I don't know if I'll be working or not. Mail order is a nightmare in those circumstances, which is why I'm using a store. If I'm off, I'll collect (perhaps even at midnight). But, if I'm working, I'll ask someone to go into town for me. Can't expect someone to sit in my house for 12 hours waiting for a package which may never arrive. |

DS has an article about the supposed PS4.5.
Would you buy PSVR if there is a PS4.5 on the way that offers everything in one, neater box? I don't know if I would and I was tempted. |

VR would be good with something like eurotruck, would feel totally natural I imagine, massive difference when it comes to look out at junctions

So the VR headset will come with free Playroom VR as well as a demo disc. VR world is a seperate purchase with 5 games.
I'm looking forward to getting RIGs anyone know what the price point of VR games? Also found a vid of the actiual PSVR and Ps4 setup, you will need an 3 plug sockets and does seem to be a lot of wires https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfoyT9bKvpg Sorry if this has all been mentioned before in this thread. |

VR games will be at the same price point as other PS4 titles. Which probably means starting at £7.99 for your small indie titles, all the way up to £54.99 for big name AAAs. That animation makes it look really complicated. The Processing Unit does indeed need its own power supply. HDMI will go PS4 to Processing Unit to TV. Add a USB cable between the PS4 and Processing Unit. Headset then plugs into the processing unit with headphones if you want them. Not so bad in reality. |

I didnt realize that the PS4 to Processing unit requires a hdmi cable and a USb cable ??
I also thought we might be able to plug headphones into the headset as opposed to the processing unit. Although Ill probably just use the surround sound as usual. |

When you're playing a VR game (or using virtual cinema) the PU sends the HDMI signal directly to the headset. Meanwhile, the USB carries the picture from the PS4's Shareplay chip which the PU can send to the TV. That's how it's possible to have 2 different viewpoints on the headset and TV in certain games. When you're playing a regular game on the TV, the PU will redirect the HDMI signal to the TV instead. Sorry, I might have confused things about the headphones. They will plug into the headset (or perhaps the volume control on the cord) which in turn uses the headset cable to connect to the PU. You can use surround sound, but the PU also does 3D sound which will integrate with the VR much better. |

The alternative would be using HDMI to send a 1080p/120 and a completely separate 720p/30 signal simultaneously. Even if it had the bandwidth I'm not sure PS4 is set up internally to manage that. Quote:

Up to 5 people can play at once - 1 player on the headset and another 4 on the TV. In this situation the TV and headset are displaying completely different, unique images simultaneously. In those circumstances the TV feed comes from the Shareplay chip, via USB, into the box and out via HDMI to the TV. Meanwhile the headset just gets its picture PS4's HDMI > box > headset as usual. |
