I do wonder what is going on at Sony
First they announce the Pro without a UHD player, I mean what the F**K they own the bloody hardware there's no excuse. Second it appears they've stopped (for now) the mods on Skyrim and Fall Out 4 I just wonder could they of made their PSVR, PC compatible? surely it can't be that hard. |

So the demo disk that comes with PSVR, there are 8 games on it for us.
But in America there's 18 games on it. Seems a little odd that decision. |

Probably "licensing" reasons as usual.

So you reckon those of us with a Canadian and US account will just be able to download the demos for free?
Sony made a point of saying all the demos would be downloadable, despite all PSVRs coming with a demo disc. It's as if they were trying to tell us something.

PC compatibility is a must IMO. I'm interested in getting it but have doubts about whether or not VR will take off on Playstation.
It would give the product a greater shot of longevity (and more games) if it supported PC use too. I'll hold off and see how developments go before taking the plunge. |

I don't see them making it compatible with PC, I also don't see the PC gamers with systems capable of running VR having much interest in the PSVR over the others anyway given how by all accounts the big 2 that are available for PC (Oculus & Vive) offer a higher quality experience due to better, higher resolution screens & better VR controller's.
There will likely be people that will find ways to get it running on PC but i'd be surprised if Sony ever offered official PC support as thats not the audience there aiming for. |

Wonder if it will be possible to use psvr without it being connected to a tv?It would be great if you just had the system set up so you could play it anywhere.

Well it needs to be connected to a ps4 as the ps4 is the engine behind it so you couldn't play it anywhere (like on a bus).

If I did go down the VR route I'd go for a more static VR experience such as the OR. While all these tracking cameras and such are great as a demo to show your grandparents and mates, how many of us actually stand to play a video game, and lets face it most of these type of games are party games, hence why the Wii was successful and why PS Move basically failed.
I want to sit at my PC and play Truck Simulator or Elite or Arma I don't actually want to run around pretending to shoot and duck behind VR barricades. It will be fun for a while, but unless decent games appear that make good use of VR it will die, just like move. As I said the PC already has head tracking hardware and it's very niche. |

I'm relatively sure that the majority of the PSVR games/experiences will be playable while sitting with either the move wand's or DS4. I think that very few will require you stand & hardly any require you to actually walk/move around.
The VR headset that's aimed at allowing you to walk/move around a room is the Vive which is considered a room-scale virtual reality system using multiple sensors you place around a room rather than the single camera that PSVR uses. |

If a movie is played on the psvr does it get 'upscaled' (for wont of a better word) to a 3d movie in the same way some 3d tellys have an option to 'fake' 3d?

Traditional seated experiences include RIGS, Driveclub VR, EVE Valkyrie, Resident Evil 7, Ace Combat etc. There are games that are motion controlled, such as Batman, Until Dawn, Tumble etc There are full-body games, (stand up, room scale type stuff) like Job Simulator, Farpoint, Headmaster etc There is local multiplayer stuff, both vs and co-op thanks to Playroom VR & Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. There's online co-op in Star Trek Bridge Crew, and lots of online competitive games too. I count something like 175 confirmed games on the way, covering pretty much every genre and with a whole range of play styles. I think the choice is pretty staggering for such a fledgling format. Yeah. Some people equate VR with "novelty" gameplay, but it in fact opens up a whole range of gameplay styles.

No, i think it appears more like a 2D image on a huge screen floating in 3D space. |

One in Scotland and the rest in England. None for Wales or NI.
Thanks for your help, Sony. |

Any comment on why the tour is so limited? You're the official Sony spokesperson here and have been bigging it up for weeks as an example of Sony's marketing. Yet the tour doesn't even visit half of the UK! It's an embarrassment.
I've never mentioned a UK tour before I think? I've referenced the wide availability of demos available in other territories when discussing Sony's level of marketing. But yeah, it's been really tough for UK gamers to try out PSVR. Even at paid events such as Insomnia and EGX you've needed to make a booking. The reasons? From a purely practical perspective I guess, for whatever reasons, PlayStation UK only have access to a limited number of final units and it's best to bunch them together in key locations to get maximum exposure. You can put that down to poor planning, or just hope they're simply not available because they're tied up in much-needed inventory or in the hands of developers. Also, PlayStation regard us Brits as being very forward thinking in terms of adopting new technology. Perhaps they're pretty confident they can sell their entire allocation of day one headsets without spending huge amounts on marketing here. But, from the individual's point of view I get that It must be frustrating. Quote:

![]() Anyway, en route to EGX now. For anyone else going that doesn't have a slot booked with Sony, be sure to check out Battlezone, Tethered and Windlands as I understand they will all have PSVR units people can use without an appointment. I'll post some thoughts later, both here and on my PSVR Facebook and Twitter feeds. I won't spam the board, so if anybody is interested and wants the details feel free to PM me. |
