Isn't Giant Bomb the same site that showcased Doom 2016 by having a guy who clearly did not play FPS' play it?

Basically they did a "Preview Showcase", which is obviously meant to make the game look attractive to those curious about it, but the Giant Bomb employee couldn't seem to grasp the concept that you can move and shoot at the same time, and Doom 2016 is all about running and gunning, effectively the more you stay still, the worse it gets, and the Giant Bomb employee just stood still constantly when shooting.

In summary; I wouldn't rely on Giant Bomb at all to properly showcase something.

I watched this review by Tested last night and it had me cancelling my pre-order:

https://youtu.be/qi28_4HKVLE

This was another shorter review by TechCrunch that I watched which basically said the same thing:
https://youtu.be/eOJk7aor7Eo

Still in two minds about what to do.

On the one hand, they were positive about the comfort of the headset and the clarity of the picture (although I'd like to know how this compares with the Gear VR as I would be hoping for a less blurry display and they did mention to expect bluriness). According to them, the sit-down 'cockpit' games were the most fun and had the least amount of tracking problems.

It's the negativity about the tracking that has had me questioning this. They say it can't compare to the laser or infrared tracking of the Vive/Rift, which is probably expected when you think that the system is relying on old technology in the Move sticks and the camera. I have a feeling that if the initial launch goes well and proves popular then they'll look at producing better motion controllers specifically for VR.

However, the question is how much of the tracking problems are caused by the user not setting it up in the best environment.

I love the idea of playing PS games in VR and will definitely pick one up at some point but I don't know whether to take a chance a buy it at launch or wait for possibly better tech and a price decrease.

3 - The seated position was way further away than recommended. The "sweet spot" is supposed to be around 5-6ft with 9ft being the maximum recommended distance. It looked to me like they were sitting way further back than that
4 - They were in a studio which may well have had lots of electromagnetic interference. Did that interfere with the bluetooth controllers?

I know they said they also had problems at home but if they made obvious calibration mistakes in the studio it seems likely they may have made the same mistakes at home.”

I'm pretty certain it was the green screen

Look at these two shots.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CuGGZqQW...jpg&name=large

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CuGIj43W...jpg&name=large

In both instances the blue lights on the headset are showing on camera as the same colour as the background. It demonstrates that Giant Bomb's equipment couldn't differentiate between the green screen and the lights, so how can they expect the PS Camera to?

No wonder it was getting confused and losing tracking.

I really can't see sony allowing porn on there VR head set, they'll try and block it some how, i've tried some adult material on my phone via USB stick it works ok, but phone gets hot and knocks hell out the battery, so be interesting to see if it does work on sony VR, make sure your alone it'll be streaming to the tv aswell as the head set
Roll on thursday i want to play some space dog fighting in eve valkyrie.

So after cancelling my pre-order, I seem to have re-ordered it again! Still feel like it's a little bit of a gamble but what the heck, I'm too excited to play it.

Really want to try Until Dawn but I think I might be too much of a wimp. I bought Afflicted for my Gear VR and after the first jump scare, I turned it off and haven't played it since! Not to mention the fact that Until Dawn is also scaring you while you're on a roller coaster...

Good to see a list of non-gaming apps. I'd recommend anyone get Within. Has some really cool experiences on there including a Mr Robot one and the world's first VR music video. It's pretty exciting to think what we might be seeing in future.

I don't think Sony will have an official app for Porn but I don't think theyre going to actively try to block it either. There'll be a way to do it, maybe not at launch, might not be too straightforward, but there'll be a way.

Not yet. When you try to start Playroom VR you just get an info screen telling you to connect a headset.

I have Headmaster installed as well. That loads but you can't get past the title screen without a headset.

I have heard people say it will be, but haven't seen any official confirmation myself.

However, I understand the full 18 title demo pack will be available in its entirety from the US PS Store if you have an account.

I don't think that was Giantbomb, this is their video on it. http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/quic...om/2300-11183/ Is this the one you mean? They all loved it, Jeff was more enthusiastic about Doom than anybody and he rarely gets truly excited anymore since he has been in the industry so long.

For some reason they were having a hard time showing with VR with tech difficulties. Jeff got sick and he never gets sick so something wasn't right with their setup.

Have downloaded DriveClub as i already have the season pass so that was cheap, the demo disc from the Canadian store, have Star Wars Battlefront so hopefully the vr mission will be available for that, and then have to choose one more game - i never ever pay full price for stuff as i am tight but will make an exception for vr, am looking at Eve or Battlezone, once i check the demos out i should be able to decide...

Cant wait for Thursday, only trouble is i am working and just hope DPD leave the package for me when i get home...

havent been this excited about gaming in years, but am also really looking forward to seeing how movies look on the headset, might save me the cost of getting a bigger tv, I have a 55" but am looking at a 65"
