PS4's Project Morpheus "prettiest title to date" - 'Mind: Path to Thalamus"

http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014/..._title_to_date

Promising... one of the first 'experiences' I'm hoping for from VR is the next 'Myst' - an escapist at-your-own-pace place of wonder.

First 'direct feed' of one of the Morpheus Demos, 'The Dive' (as opposed to footage shot from one of the monitors) -

Unreal Engine 4.1 now includes PS4 and Morpheus support - this could really open up the amount of games destined for the VR treatment.

The new "free" Unreal Tournament game is already being touted, as is Kickstarter title Loading Human.

Sony's Joshua Topolsky demonstrates Project Morpheus on NBC's 'The Tonight Show' with Jimmy Fallon (here comes E3!) -

http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/#segments/7086

I don't think there's any geo-blocking for non-US residents going on, I could watch it. If you want to find the episode by 'other means', it's June 6th's. They show the latest model of Lytro light-field camera beforehand, I wonder if one of those could take a fisheye lens and give stereo images...! VR photo albums incoming...!

Joshua Topolsky runs a website called The Verge (previously Engadget, I listen to his podcast every week), he doesn't have anything to do with Sony.

My bad, confused him with one of Sony's lead VR people, with a Russian-sounding name!

From IGN, re Tokyo Games Show

Yoshida added that game announcements cut from the Gamescom press conference, due to the amount of content Sony had to showcase, will be shown during its TGS keynote. PlayStation 4-related game announcements will be a focus for Sony at TGS this year, but Sony is still determining whether or not to exhibit its virtual reality headset Project Morpheus at the show.
They had Morpheus at Gamescom, but yer man said that it's hard to demonstrate on a stage but it's playable at a booth n what could they do differently at TGS ?

It's been confirmed Surgery Simulator and FTP game War Thunder will both get Project Morpheus support.

There is some SPECULATION that Silent Hills may be a VR title. If PT is antything to go by, I'd better get some extra large nappies on order.

I'm trying to find out if Morpheus will be available to play at EGX this year , but no news as yet. Interestingly, War Thunder is listed as one of the playable games at the expo, despite being available for a while.

Lol, a proper horror like SH on vr.

I was at a game of thrones expo and they used vr to simulate ascending a wall and then a fireball hits you. I stumbled when that happened. I'll never be able to hold my own in an actual horror game.

That might explain why PT is first-person, when Silent Hill was third person. Third person is wasted on VR.

According to this interview, Project Morpheus is now 85% complete.

Hopefully that means a 2015 release.

They showed some new games/demos at the Tokyo Games show - not to be outdone by the glut of Hatsune Miku demos on Oculus (a Japanese pastime, it seems - see also 'Summer Lesson') there's one for Morpheus, and while we wait for an Ace Combat VR title (Want! Waaaaant!) there's an air combat sim 'War Thunder' now supporting Morpheus -

Don't know if I'd want a VR headset on me whilst I'm chilling out playing the PS4. But I'd be lying if I said EVE Valk doesn't appeal to me as I'm an avid EVE gamer!

Would need to try it sometime.

You really should try it.

Nothing or nobody can explain this. No videos can do it justice. Seeing is believing with this one.

Sony are planning a 4 hour session on Project Morpheus at GDC '15 on March 3rd. We can only speculate on what we'll see from this, but the length of the presentation suggests they are fully behind this.

Press kits for Super Stardust Ultra say the game is "Morpheus Ready"

Can't wait to see what is shown.

What are we anticipating this to cost? I would love to get one but if it's more than a couple of hundred there's no chance?

Very good question. I don't think it will cost more than 200 quid, be that pounds, dollars or euro. I mean it's just a peripheral, that connects to the ps4, I assume. I don't think they can get away with charging too much more. I reckon they've invested a lot into Morpheus, so it will need to be competitively priced so people buy into it.

Cost is a tough one to call.

I'd love it to be sub £250 - I'd probably bite at launch for that.

But this is new territory, and I wouldn't be surprised by a much higher cost. Problem is, I don't see it succeeding if that's the case.

Reminder that Sony are presenting a 4 hour session on Morpheus at GDC later today. Sadly it's in San Francisco, so anyone eager for news will have to wait until after 11pm GMT for their fix.

Hoping to wake up to some good news in the morning.
