A Digital Spy Interview with PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida gives some hope that PSVR should arrive an a not unreasonable cost.
DS: "PlayStation VR does feel the most 'living room-ready' of the competing headsets, with Oculus and Vive a bit more specialist. Do you think Sony's history in that space is its biggest advantage?" SY: "We are bringing a console mentality and also making developers test it fully before using their content. We tend to price hardware not to make money from it but to get as many install base so that content can be sold. This is the same kind of thinking in the way we are approaching PlayStation VR." |

Pricing will be key to this (and most hardware).
Ill get it anyway, but i hope its relatively cheap to get a big userbase, so that it gets developer support for years t come. |

The optimist in me thinks $299/€299/£259 for just the headset would be a good starting point.
$349/€349/£299 when bundled with the camera. Start throwing in Move controllers.... and it might start getting out of hand. People could look at the total cost to have everything and be scared off it. Sony need to be careful how they handle it, or it could become a bit of a negative PR issue (like those rediculous newspaper articles slamming Disney Infinity and the "hidden costs") Move controllers can currently be picked for about £8 from places like CEX. I already have one (and a Nav controller), so I'll probably get another before the prices jump up. Hopefully there will be multiple SKUs, really wouldn't be happy about paying for, and being stuck with, another camera. |

Yeah I don't want another camera either.
I must get some move controllers before this comes out. I imagine the price of them will shoot up after. Edit: The Move controllers are €8 here in CEX. Do you think we'll need the navigation controller ? They're €6 extra. |

Thought I read somewhere that the move controllers will be updated for Vr although the old ones can be used.
Move controllers to come in pairs, left hand includes navigation , right hand includes buttons....... It may have been a hoax but it made sense. I think it will cost £250 just for the headset |

I think it will cost £250 just for the headset There may be a combined Move/Nav controller in the future, or even a analogue stick attachment using the EXT port, but in the short term I think it will be standard Move controllers, possibly with the Start/Select buttons relabelled Share/Options. |

I think if you are going to buy this VR machine, they should not charge the same prices they do for games as they do on the PS4 infact they should give you 5-10 games free to play with it at launch and then as time goes on have your regular PS4 games integrate VR features but no way should they be charging high prices for games for this. It's a bit of a novelty anyway, the least they could do is get some decent games to go with it for free when it launches, fun games that everyone can join in and play.

A lot of "normal" games will have VR support early on. Driveclub is looking to integrate it. Tekken 7 is compatible and I'll bet my hat that No Mans Sky will be too. (Jokes on you if you take that bet as I don't think I own a hat). Then there's all the games we've been seeing demos for. These won't be expensive and I think a lot of them will be free. Sony does have studios working on games specifically for VR and I think these will be pricey enough. Depends on what they are tho. |

Cant wait for this to come out, haven't been this excited about gaming since i got my VCS in the late 70's!
Hopefully it will live up to the hype, driving games and stuff like Elite Dangerous would be fantastic. |

I appreciate there have been numerous add-ons over the years that haven't caught on. But having tried VR, believe me, it changes everything. This is the first generation consumer VR. Some will fail. Some will make mistakes. You're never going to see anywhere near a 100% adoption rate. But if it works, and it just might, it could change the face of gaming forever. You go ahead and hold onto your pennies. But some people are proud to be early adopters. They are optimists. They are willing to take a chance on new tech and ideas. Without them the industry would have ground to a halt and died years ago. |

I remember VR when it first came out and it was rubbish - the ideas were there but the tech of the day wasn't anywhere near good enough. This is the first time the technology has got the power to do what it needs to do and i am really optimistic about it all.
Are there any half-concrete rumours regarding price-point and release date? |

Are there any half-concrete rumours regarding price-point and release date? To the post up above I beg you to try it before you decide. VR cannot be shown on video, which makes the presentations at E3 or PSX always underwhelming. You need to try VR to see and feel how amazing it is. |
