To the post up above I beg you to try it before you decide. VR cannot be shown on video, which makes the presentations at E3 or PSX always underwhelming.

You need to try VR to see and feel how amazing it is.
I don't think this can be stressed enough. PSVR... It works! This is no gimmick. You put it on and are immediately transported to a gaming environment like nothing you've experienced before. Nothing you see on a screen does it justice. It's great. And if they can get the pricing right it could be huge.

I think I'll be buying PlayStation VR when it's released. Looks like the next big step in gaming to me.

But where can we the people try it out?

Right now, probably nowhere.

So Sony (and Occulus) need to do something before they release it. Either have demo units in Game or hold events everywhere or something like that. People need to try it.

Most of the people who have tried it, love it.
Most of the people who think it will fail haven't tried it.

It will also need a good strong marketing campaign that won't confuse the consumers about what it is.

There have been very limited opportunities to try it out so far. I think EGX was basically it in the UK for anyone outside the industry. (Even then it was next to impossible to secure a place and you only got a few minutes.)

You could take a chance on it being shown at EGX Rezzed in April if you're willing to buy a ticket and take a trip to London.

Getting people to try it is key. Sony must know this and surely have something planned. Some sort of roadshow visiting various towns and cities? Demo pods in stores? Or maybe they are willing to accept a very slow first year and hope word of mouth or trying out a friend's system is enough to drive adoption.

That'd be CES on Jan 5th. More of a gadgets show than a games show but Sony might use it to show off the VR to a different crowd.

If not CES then they'll possibly hold another PlayStation Meeting - a standalone event that has been used in the past for the PS Vita and PS4 reveals.

VR has similar problems to what 3D had, you can only really see what it has to offer by trying it first hand. And it requires you to stick something on your face.

You actually wear PSVR like a hat, rather than goggles like the other systems but yeah, I see where you're coming from.

Well, shortly after 1am Wednesday morning perhaps.

They are definitely showcasing PSVR at CES and with the release 6 months away at the most they are running out of opportunities to get big press coverage.

I'd say there's a fair chance.

Just to add, Oculus Rift preorders are opening 48 hours from NOW. I think the chances of getting concrete PSVR launch information this week just went up.

Yes, you'll be able to watch live.

PSVR features in Sony's publicity material for the event, and apparently their CES stand is littered with huge advertisements. They're certainly making a big deal of it at the event.

One would have thought that there would have been some mention of it though.

Wow.

Oculus Rift is launching at $599.

£499 in UK.

Hopefully PSVR is significantly under that.
