Samsung ES6300 - 1. Flash Player Issue
When trying to watch video on the BBC web page I get a message that says that I need to upgrade to the latest version of Flash Player but the TV will not download and install it. Does this mean that the TV, that is less than a year old, is out of date in this function or does anyone know if there is a work-around that will allow me to enable this TV to view Flash Player videos?
Thanks all. |

Yes, I believe that the TV has the most up-to-date download. One can access the Samsung site via the TV and request an up-date, even though it is supposed to be self up-dating, and the message is that it has the most up-to-date software.
Thanks. |

But have you actually been to the website and check there! as the tv will say that anyway. just go to there website and enter model number of tv and it if there is an update, it will be there. but if you have checked there already and there is no update have you tried using an app like bbci player to see if the prob is still there?

just been reading about this issue and seems to be happening because there the only option to download is for linux and not windows. seeing as its a pretty new tv, you might be best to speak to samsung as they are most probably sorting it out or have done now. good luck

BBC iPlayer works fine through the "Smart Hub" (as they call it) application. It is when I try to view flash player via the Samsung browser. I have been to the website and there is no software update but there is a (USB) firmware up-date that I am in the process of downloading.

just found this, Full Support Response was:
Dear Matt I'm sorry that you are experiencing these difficulties with your Samsung TV and understand the frustration this can cause. The latest update for this TV was released on November 23rd via USB only, the update version is T-MST10PDEUC-1030.0. To check that you have this version please see Menu > Support > Contact Samsung > Software version. If you are not on this version please follow the steps below. Please follow these instructions and step by step guide for carrying out the process, if you are still unable to upgrade we can send a pre-loaded USB out to you. For best results please use Google chrome. 1. Go to Support for UE40ES6300U , select firmware, click on the EXE at the end of the download. 2. Once it saves to your download bar at the bottom of the screen click once on the file. 3. A "How to prepare" dialogue box should open on your screen, on this screen click on "Extract". 4. Add the extracted file to your USB stick. 5. Connect to the TV and follow - Menu > Support > Software upgrade > USB. This should begin the update. If you have the latest version of software please reset the TV by following Menu > Support > Self Diagnosis > Reset If you require any further assistance, please contact Samsung again and we will be more than happy to help. Kind regards Jonny Online Support Team SAMSUNG Customer Support Centre Let me know how you get on...Btw, i have 100MB connection though...Doubt i'm getting half of that over wireless though... |

OK, I will start with the USB firmware up-date and if that doesn't sort it a note/call to the Samsung support is in order. I will report back over/after the weekend - access to TV and laptop dependant.
Thanks, Shaun. |

From your comment it sounds as if others are experiencing problems. Is it the same issues that I have posted? You may have seen that I have posted 3 threads to do with this TV. I should add that on the whole I like the TV but there are some irritations that I would like to sort out.
In answer to your quetion about the fixes, I cannot see any information that describes the "fixes" in the current Firmware download. However the issue date is quite recent 22/01/2014. See here http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mo...UXXU-downloads I have also sent an email to Samsung Support and I will publish their response here as and when it arrives. |

yeah, other's were angry about the usb firmware update as alot of people still don't understand how to use the usb method, even thou very easy if they are computer literate. i think the tv will be ok once they fix the bugs, seeing as it is a new kind of tv. let us know if that firmware update fixes the flash issue. some people are complaining about green ghosting images on the screen while other's were complaining about the flash player while other's about the usb update in general. might be best to just wait till samsung get back to ya, just incase it messes up with your warranty.

OK, here is the official response from Samsung:
"In regards to your email enquiry, unfortunately the web browser on your TV does not support Flash Player. The browser has a limited functionality for browsing sites and is not intended for streaming content. I apologise for the inconvenience caused." Well I suppose that answers that question. I will have to stream using the pc as the ES6300 is not "smart" enough.M |

must be why a lot of people are complaining about the smart feature's as they just ain't smart enough yet. unless there is another way of adding another browser on the tv then yeah it looks like hooking up the pc or tablet to the tv is the only way to go. maybe they will work out a fix or something as i thought flash really should be a priority on a browser.

You would think so.
As for the USB up-date. The TV did not see the file on the USB flash. I looked and the version on the TV was 1040 but the USB up-date download was 1036. I guess the USB version must be released quite a while after the on-line version has been made available. Thanks' again. |
