Have you checked CPW, I got my N4 screen replaced there for around £80, In fact they couldn't repair the screen and ended up giving me a new handset.

I ended up getting £130 for my Nexus 5 with the glass literally falling off the front in chunks

For anybody interested I noticed the Nexus 5 is down again at Car Phone Warehouse to just under £250:

I was looking at the Samsung s4. Is this a better phone? It is cheaper than the s4.

I think it would be a better phone provided that you don't need to have extra memory with an SD card or if you needed a battery that you can swap easily (have a spare).

Mark.

Extra memory isn't an issue for me. 16gb is more than enough. I assume the battery in it is more than good enough anyway.

Think I might go with nexus 5. Been reading about the comparisons to the s4 and most say nexus 5 is better also apparently the samsung phones can suffer screen burn which is surprising.

The battery in the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 is sufficient for a day's use. It's not stellar though. The only way to get a phone with a much bigger battery is to go much larger though (Note 3, Xperia Z2).

Wouldn't that depend on the user though?

Yes, but I'm judging that based on my own use and the info I see from other users. Generally, the battery on the Nexus devices isn't that large, so even if you stretch it, you're unlikely to get more than 1.5-2 days even at a push. It's a smartphone. There are pretty much no devices out there that last more than 2 days on a charge.

I charge my current phone everyday. Its a sony xperia s so is little outdated. Also battery seems to be failing. Charged it up last night and it was flat this morning which is I big problem when its also my alarm for work.

Can go into the store to buy this phone or is it only online?

True, I give my phone a LOT of hammer, it gets a lot of use. I sometimes need to top up at regular intervals in the day, and if I'm having a night out, I don't feel comfortable unless its topped all of the way up.

Best thing I did for my Nexus 5 was get a fast charger for it (like one of the Blackberry charges recommend on XDA - charges from empty to full in about 1hr20). That way you can plug it in for a few minutes here and there and it tops up nice and quick.

Next time around though I'll be wanting a phone that can confidently make it through a day without leaving you wondering!

Ordered the Nexus 5 to collect from store. It says within 2 days. Although on the email it says black when I chose white so emailed them to tell them.

That doesn't surprise me. I ordered a Nexus 5 via CPW for launch day. I had an order confirmation email come through and went to the store only to be told there wasn't an online order for me. Luckily, the manager was a decent guy about it and just gave me a phone anyway.

If its not the one I chose then im not having it unless they can exchange it.

Got my nexus 5. The store did get sent the wrong colour though but the guy in the store exchanged it for the white. There was only one available. He did say the sale people make they're work harder so I assume mistakes like this happen a lot. He also said to avoid three because they're not as good as they used to be and I should go with either O2, Vodafone or EE especially if I want 4g. Not going with O2 again. Vodafone doesn't get good ratings either. EE do but do seem a tad expensive. My brother is on three and hasn't had any problems. A guy at work has been with them 13 years and says the same.

The only reason the sales person advised you not to go with three is because carphone warehouse don't do three sales anymore.

I never really take much notice of what they say. I said i was getting nexus 5 based on reviews and he was saying how amazing the nexus 5 is which is true but he'd have probably said that about any phone im buying.

Are the ones from carphone warehouse online likely to be the most recent models and not the older ones with the weird wobbly power button?
