No he is not cocky any more than Hayley is apparently desperate and arrogant. People just seem to like being bitchy on here is all.
Is Ray Cocky?

He works hard, is dynamic on the ice and consitently puts on a really good show. He's enthusiastic and shows his emotions, clearly he loves what he is doing on the ice. Hope he wins, as to being cocky, no I think he's just delighted to be doing so well.
I used to think so when I first saw him on - was it x factor? But think he has matured very nicely into a lovely young man, confident and with good manners and with a lot of talent. I was probably being a bit harsh on him anyway back then

Sam's been in the skateoff several times, week before last he wasn't and he was pleased. I don't wonder.
I think he's confident rather than cocky and that's one of the things that makes him so good. But isn't it reasonable to feel happy and confident when you consistently get excellent scores from the judging panel and end up top of the leaderboard? Can you imagine the response if he looked completely gobsmacked every time a judge said something positive or gave him a good score? The same people complaining about his smugness would be accusing him of being a phoney.

In the DoI segment of This Morning today, both Jeff Brazier and Kyran Bracken went on at some length about how Ray doesn't necessarily have it in the bag, Jeff promoting Sam and Kyran suggesting Beth as the likely winner. Then they announced the results of the viewers' poll as to which of the four remaining contestants they want to win, and Ray had 73 (or was it 77?) %. Quelle surprise!

Kyran also said Suzanne would have been the only one who could have challenged Ray in a Bolero! He did say Ray was absolutely brilliant but feels Sam is under marked. IMO Jeff Brazier hasn't a clue what he is talking about frankly! Ray had 73% of the viewer vote.

I take it this is 73% of the This Morning viewer vote? How do we know these people are voting on Dancing on Ice?

How do we know people on any poll including those on DS are actually voting tho? All it is is an indication of how popular the celebs are and Ray tops all the polls by a mile. It does not of course mean that that will translate into votes but it may do to some extent at least!

I think Ray is so far from being cocky, I think it's strange to accuse him! He is brilliant at the skating and has singing, dancing experience so is confident that he can master the routines he is given and tries very hard to do so.
I think cockiness shows in vts and when waiting for results. In my opinion Ray behaves impeccably in these situations without a hint of cockiness. I hate the cheers and fists when some get through, very unedifying!

This piece really made me laugh on "This Morning", unintentionally I might add. Both Kyran and Jeff both seemed to imply that although Ray is "brilliant", he skates too much and doesn't do as many lifts as the rest. Well boys, the clue is in the title. The show isn't called "Lifting/BeingLlifted on Ice". Don't get me wrong I can't even stand up on the ice so I don't underestimate how difficult those lifts are for the male celebs, but imo the lifts in Ray's routines are pure T&D. They are fluid and part of the dance, not just a trick to impress the audience. I've always preferred ice dancing to pairs figure skating so I suppose I would prefer to watch Ray rather than say, Sam, because to me Ray ice dances and most of the other celebs figure skate.

I agree with all of this. Also, have you noticed the size difference between Kyran and his partner compared with Ray and his partner? I think I could probably lift Kyran's partner above my head.

I'm just watching the This Morning routine. Kyran's comment on Ray going out like a peacock - Ray going out and going 'This is me'. I'm not sure what he means, unless he thinks Ray shows off - but don't they all get chance to 'show off' when they go out? They're ALL trying to impress the judges and the people at home, so why single out Ray?

This was Ray on Daybreak today. IMO a lovely interview - he certainly does not come across as cocky at all! In fact as usual he credits Maria, knows his limitations and just seems to be loving the whole experience!

Wasn't Kyran showing off when he did that one armed lift of Nina? Although as Lulu g said anyone could lift Nina she's no bigger than a child. Maybe he should try that with Maria before commenting? I actually don't like watching Kyran as he takes too many risks with his partner (whereas Sam and Ray are more careful).

I prefer their natural gracefulness to Kyrans power horse or Sams resentful child (although he was a good second to Ray last week).

Yes, Kyran has power but no artistry. Ray has more artistry than Sam, and Sam has more artistry than Kyran.
