Samsung TV screen problems
I have a Samsung LE32R87BDX HDTV that I bought back in 2007. It has always worked perfectly but has recently started developing a few problems. The first issue was that it sometimes displays a yellow/greenish screen when I turned it on and there was no input (normally it should just be a black screen) however the system menus are always displayed correctly and when the input was turned on, the picture appeared ok.
Today though, a new issue has suddenly developed. I turned the TV on to play on my PS4, the TV started up with the yellow/greenish screen but soon corrected once the PS4 started up. However after about an hour, the screen went bright white/inverted colours. I switched inputs on the TV but the white screen remained. I restarted the TV which resolved the issue but only temporarily as after about 15 minutes it happened again. All in all after 2 hours of playing on my PS4, the TV turned white screen about four times and even started developing a white border around the screen when I restarted it. Can anyone advise what could be the problem, or is it time for a new TV? Obviously being 7 years old, its well out of warranty now. |

Samsung have had issues with dodgy capacitors in the power supply. That could cause all kinds of odd problems. If you can find the right end of a soldering iron without burning yourself
then if you can identify the culprits it may be possible to swap them out.On the other hand you really did want a shiny new telly didn't you

Thanks for your reply. I think I might opt for a new one! Just tried it again today and after about an hour, the screen went bright white again.
I've spotted an LG 32LA620V 32" 3D TV in John Lewis which looks quite good and does what I want (it's only a bedroom/gaming TV so don't really need anything bigger than 32 or 37 inch). |
