Basically the question is as subject. It strikes me as crazy you can get a 1m hdmi cable frompoundland but if you want a 2m cable Argos will relieve you of 15 pounds. Other than ebay has anyone found anywhere that is reasonable value for hdmi and audio cables?

Aldi often have 2M HDMI cables at reasonable prices. Normally sold in pairs. I have some of these and they work fine. They also have the go faster gold plating

Glad somewhere is willing to sell them at fair prices.

The current pricing at many places strikes me of monopolistic practice. There really should be an investigation

Gold plating is used because, unlike copper, it doesn't oxidise. Although silver plate would be better than gold in terms of conductivity.

Currys still sell them for ridiculous prices. They also have 2 tvs on the wall with same picture but with different cables, black series and gold. Obviously the gold series is most expensive from 50-£89. Black series wasn't exactly cheap at £40. The picture on the gold series was clearly better but no doubt settings for the tvs was different even though they'd tell you it wasn't.

I know the theory, in practice it's makes sod all difference. Resistance isn't really an issue as the current involved is tiny.

The answer is to ask them to swop the cables round in front of you, or perhaps do it yourself. Nothing like calling their bluff.

Make sure you buy V1.4 or 1.4a (some of them are V1.3): http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_nr_...ice=5&x=9&y=15

Why does it have to be on the High Street? You can buy them online for peanuts.
