Month-old Ipad Mini died during update

I wonder if anyone else has had this problem?

I was recharging my relatively new (four week old) ipad mini this afternoon. I went to see how far charging had progressed when I noticed that there was an update to IOS6. I clicked to install it and halfway through the process (the white band going across underneatth the Apple symbol), the screen went black. I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I then tried pressing the power button and the button in the centre of the pad simultaneously and again got nothing.

I'm going to take it in to Currys tomorrow for someone to look at, but should I ask for a replacement or is it fixable? Any advice much appreciated!

Try pressing and holding the power button and the home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

iOS 6? Surely a new Mini should be on iOS 7?

Hi, just to clarify, the iOS update takes the latest version to 7.0.6...
My update came through this afternoon, thankfully no problems...

I had the ipad plugged in when I started downloading the update, would that have had any bearing on it?

Well I took it back to Currys and they couldn't get it going either - so they replaced it! Feeling quite relieved.

At least with Apple devices their shops provide full warranty repairs and replacements no matter who you got it from!
