OK, neither of these will be much cop compared with tellies at twice the price.... I know that

but of

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/1384945.htm

and

http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-dvd-...74552-pdt.html

which would you chose?

The second one is cheaper- any reason to spend the extra and go for the Bush?

either would do, except I wouldn't get one with a dvd player as likely to break down.

I like my boys 28 " as a good size for a bedroom

Is there something about DVD players in combis that makes them more likely to break than the average DVD player?

Worst case my Xbox 360 has a DVD player I can use.

I'm very pushed for space (it's a very small room!!) I seriously considered 19" before figuring I could just about fit a 22 incher in.

No, just makes it harder to sort out if it does break.

It would not surprise me in the least to discover that these two tellies are the same inside, or at least very closely related. Not beyond the realms of possibility they came out of the same factory at least.

So probably not a lot to separate them.

At one time "Bush" was the byword for British quality.
For more than twenty years it's been just a badge they can stick on "anything" from China or wherever.

That's what I was thinking. In that case I may as well go for the cheapest.

You could get a 22" LG for £99 if you did not want a built in dvd player.

I want built in dvd and I also want two hdmi ports. That rules out quite a few alternatives unfortunately.

Why not this:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/...43d/lg-22mn43d

and this:

http://www.richersounds.com/product/...ny-dvpsr170-mr

Advantage is if the DVD player goes, you don't have to replace the tv as well.

Because as I explained above its for a very restricted space and I want a combi.

That LG also only has one HDMI socket and I want two.

As already mentioned it's highly likely both TVs are actually the same, just in slightly different cases. It's likely both are made by Vestel.

Today Bush is just a name used by Argos, along with Alba and a couple of other names.

Logik is Curry's own brand I think.

Logic; + looks prettier
BUT - from Currys so if it goes wrong you are gonna have to battle with their returns policy; which I'm told is improving but nothing like as easy as Argos. Take stuff back to Argos, get a refund immediately without it even being checked. Not even with the original box!

Funnily enough if I were choosing purely on looks I'd go for the Bush. Eye of the beholder and all that.

But I'm not that bothered what it looks like as long as it does the job....

These things are very poorly made. So when it goes wrong... probably in 13 months...

I personally would go for a higher quality model without DVD and go cheap on the separate DVD player.

But if space is that tight then you may as well get the ALBA model from Argos, it will be the same electronics inside I'm sure.

Alba 22 Inch Full HD 1080p LED TV/DVD Combi [silver/white/black for £129.99)

or in "poppy red" or "navy blue" for just £119.99

edit: looks like the ALBA is single HDMI though, a shame.

You can get an automatic HDMI switch cheap enough. And hide it behind the tv. Make sure it's a powered one and comes with a power supply.

if people on this thread are right about them being identical innads etc ,,,,,,,,

then i personally would go for the one with the cheapest extended warranty ,,,,,,,,,, if your budget allows of course ( im not trying to spend money you sorely need m8)

if you cant afford the extension ,,,,,,, go with the bush ,,,,,,,,, simply because if ( it shouldn't bud) ,,,, IF it breaks down within the first 12 months , i'll wager you would get a lot less hassle returning to argos.

Another plug and more wiring to add to the spaghetti. I really am looking to replace three current items ( tv , dvd player and freeview box) with one item, one plug, one remote. ....

I'd pay extra just not to have to buy from Currys.

They may be cheap, but they're an odious, cretinous, useless bunch of clowns who don't give a toss if something goes wrong. (In my opinion)

Yeah I'm no fan of them either, but with Comet and Best Buy ( the latter sadly missed by me) both gone, it really is a two horse race

I don't know if it's also the same TV with a more "upmarket" badge but if you're willing to pay an extra £20 this Toshiba has a five year guarantee. It's from Richer Sounds so a shop with a better reputation than Argos or Currys.

Does anyone else find that an offputting shape for a TV? The bezel is round at the bottom and square at the top, it's upside down!! TBH that's one reason I went for a 32"LG rather than a Toshiba as they both had the same smart functions and roughly the same price.

I see the Bush has recently come down in price to £140 v £130 for the Logik.

AFAIK, in the times you claimed, it was just a byword for "LOPTX guaranteed to fail soon", at least it did in the 50s and 60s. Not many Bush sets from the 70s seem to have survived in the collector circle, now.

Of the RBM group, I've always felt that Bush was the poor relation.

Back on topic, I would say they are both the same, or similar, chassis. Just avoid the one with the built-in DVD player.
