So, we all know the 30th anniversary is next year. Does anyone else think or hope they will release a 'Best of' DVD collection in celebration?

Corrie have done it, emmerdale have done it; there are boxsets of Casualty, Heartbeat, The bill etc....Eastenders is the only soap who doesn't appear to release any dvd collections!

I would absolutely love then to release a dvd collection, the bigger the better! At least 30 episodes minimum would be ideal.

What episodes would you all like to see?? Maybe if there is enough interest now then BBC will consider it?

The BBC are terrible at archiving, I reckon there's a couple lost episodes they might have to recover first

I liked what they did for the 15th anniversary in 2000 lots of special interviews and behind the scenes features with the show and its cast on the set on BBC1. They then did a poll for fans to vote for their favourite classic episode to get re-aired (Tiffany's death was chosen by the majority and that just showed how popular the character was sigh)

I hope they don't do another live episode though that is soooooooo old now.

I think they will - live episodes on big anniversaries are almost traditional now. Corrie did one for both its 40th and 50th birthdays.

It will be so similar to the 25th though, considering both will be the climax of a death story line, although I reckon we'll be DYING to know what happened to Lucy considering it would run for nearly a year and Archie's only ran for two months.

I'd just love the BBC to issue complete year sets on DVD. I would be ok with the changing the music in the Vic/Café if they couldn't get the rights but I'd just kill to have the episodes from many individual years on DVD especially the entire 90s in particular 1993 - 96 that was a great era.

If they don't release a DVD box set I'd really want to know why the bbc won't upload more episodes themselves on youtube on their own channel.

Sadly that's something they'll never agree to. It would simply cost them too much money, not even Corrie have done it.

You can find some complete years on ioffer, it's worth taking a look.

The must do a 'best of' collection though. It's about the only tv show who has none of it's episodes on DVD!!

I want a live episode!, I know all soaps have done them but they are still a rarity after all. DTC was part of the show's first ever live episode so I hope we get one for the 30th!

Yeah seen them but its just recorded from TV episodes and the quality is about as good as you'd get on youtube for old episodes.

Its DVD or even better HD (dreams) quality I'm after

Good choices.I'd consider Den's original death,Dens retum, when Cindy left the country with the kids and Tiffanys death.

It would be great to see some of the classics again.

I don't understand why the BBC have never done it. I can only assume its too costly for what ever reason.

In all seriousness, why did you put Archie's murder in there? Even if you didn't like it, that was a popular episode and a huge SL that fans took seriously.

Thanks very much for that!! I expected to end up finding out within a week or two, but not on a thread about a 30th anniversary DVD!

It's strange to think that they used to release archive EastEnders material - there was the Den and Angie Years tape which had something like 90 minutes of vintage footage including the whole of the two hander. I'm pretty sure there was another one around the same time. Then we had the fifteenth anniversary video, but nothing at all since. I think if we don't get a boxset by next year then sadly we'll have to rule it out as something that's never likely. Come on BBC, make it happen!
