How can she sit there and criticse them yet isn't the point of a coach they give them advice while they are practicing and rehearsing as she will know what the judges are looking for , yet sits there and lets them get slated?

She was a skating coach before DOI so I assume back to that.
I don't know why Karen gets so much hate on here? I know people who've met her and have said that she's lovely.

Ive never really understood why Karen is on the judging panel and a coach but I guess you can do what you want when you are dating CD

Did that apply when Dan was with Beth? The forum seemed to think not.
I think Karen has come across as far more professional in this series compared to previous series..... for example, when she point blank refused to choose a celeb to save after a skate-off.

and thats why she shouldnt be a judge - the judges are there to knock out the celebs in the skate off, if Karen cant put aside her "coaching" hat and eliminate the weaker of the 2 then, IMO, she shouldnt be on the judging panel

I've long held the view that it's difficult to be both.
Though I think she wasn't able to contribute much on show night from the sidelines just as a coach - perhaps fewer adverts and/or less presenter waffle might have allowed more time for her to say something informative.

She's far from lovely !
I think Karen is eminently preferable (and better qualified to judge) than Ashley, who just talks rubbish most of the time.
I've met Karen loads of times and shes lovely. She always makes time to speak to everyone and she always remembers me when she sees me. I also had a skating lesson with her and she was a great coach

That was all because Jason said that if her opinion mattered she would still be on the panel; so, when the DOI producers wanted Jason back on the panel after falling ratings with Louis Spence, Karen's price for Jason's return to the panel was her own return to the panel.

Oh I agree with you completely, but I was just saying I think she is acting more professionally in this series. I still think that as a coach she shouldn't be judging at all - I'd rather have Nicky in her place.

She is a coach because she is good at it and is here in the UK
She is a judge because as someone who used to be a world class ice dancer she is qualified to be one (and she is here in the UK).
I really don't know why she gets such a hard time on these message boards when such vitriol could be so easily be redirected towards Jason with much better justification.
