Beth was a gymnast - and although her speciality (and world championships and Oher Olympic Bronze) was the asymmetric bars, she like all gymnasts will have had to perform floor exercise routines to music, and has got some musicality - she would never have got into the top flight without achieving a good standard on all the apparatus, as in a lot of competitions, you only get into the individual medal competition if you achieve a high place in the all round competition!.
You cant compare the like of Louis Smith, and beth whose sports require a level of elegance to the endurance sports like cycling. Victoria pendleton was super fit and strong - but on the whole danced like a sack of spuds - Louis - like Beth on DOI - could do the steps well - but was accused of lacking performance by some people - I for one never saw his dancing as anything other than brilliant - and when i saw him on tour - it was hard to tell him apart from the pro dancers .
Beth is able to skate solo, do tricks and lifts, and gets given new stuff week after week, with very little opportunity to work on the weaknesses in her performance.... hayley on the other hand never seems to get anything new to do - and can concentrate on the performance side.... maybe they should reverse the choreography for a week and see what happens.... give hayley lots of new stuff to learn and master, and allow Beth to have time to work on her performance... its not a level playing field - Hayley gets preferential treatment because she CAN'T do what the others can.
