It always irritates me a bit that despite some companions walk into the TARDIS wearing nothing but what they have walked in with (In Peri's case, very little...) they always seem to amass an amazing wardrobe!

Ian is a typical example of this. He just walks in of the street in his coat, suit and tie, but quite mysteriously manages to get a different collection of suits and jackets! Many a companion since have followed suit!

Plus, what happened to the food machine from The Daleks?! Is it still there, how do they eat? And just where is the TARDIS toilet........?????

Aside from that, my other irritation is cliffhangers that just end on something odd or really unimportant. Noticing a lot of those during Troughton's Era at the moment but it's by no means exclusive to his time. I mean, Dragonfire Part 1, a literal cliffhanger, still don't know what that was all about........

ditto to the background hum

Can I also add another minor irritation - that Rose and the Doctor actually fell in love.

Tut tut Judge! Read the thread title again. It says 'minor' not 'Season ruiningly awful abominations'.

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship had that fridge postcard at the end as well, which photoshopped in some promo shots from Walking with Dinosaurs (the pedant in me recalls it was an Ankylosaurus). There's nothing like a 2012 show using an image from an (admittedly impressive) show whose computer effects came from 1998. ”

Also if I recall correctly, they used 10/11's TARDIS exterior too, that irritated me a bit!

The Doctor teleporting back to the TARDIS in Time of the Doctor is a really big annoyance for me, it's an incredibly easy cop-out way of getting out of danger, which I doubt will ever be seen again even in the most desperate situations. Just imagine the hundreds of times The Doctor could have done it to save himself/others!

Minor irritation - what and from when we're future Amy and Rory on the hill

http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...php?p=40468668

Also, we may never see Jack became the face of Bo

I think the Face of Bo is one of RTD's best concepts. It makes sense that living a life that long, and traveling that much through space (and time) and the different places, environments and technologies would have a large impact on your physiognomy. It's pretty silly when we see all of these human colonies in the far-flung future and they are identical to 21st century humans (or even 1960s humans ), seemingly totally unchanged by the rigors of space, severe environmental change and evolution.

I'm happy with not seeing the change or any in-between stage. It's just a nice ending to the story. 'This is what I become'.

In the same episode, the word COTIDIE is misspelt on the cod-Latin newspaper placard, which is, to say the least, annoying.

I also wince at the phrase "homo reptilia", which is neither good Latin nor good taxonomy.

The way 11 waves his arms around.

I thought I was alone in this but then the War Doctor picked him up on this too, nice to be validated sometimes

Minor Irritations:

- we only got to see Lady De Souza in one episode
- xmas specials don't always live up to the hype
- classic who isn't repeated on telly anymore
- the sonic screwdriver has a light (surely sonic is about sound?)

The talking in speeches style overused by RTD. Memorable lines are great. But don't make the characters speak like... well, characters. I can't watch an episode from this era, it seems, without being irked by this at one point or another. It's one of the things about the whole 'Timelord Triumphant' storyline I dislike; it's all just so pyrrhic .

The Doctor (and now Clara) snapping their fingers to open the TARDIS doors, although this shouldn't irritate me because given the level of technology needed to build the TARDIS, a simple sound recognition device for the door opening mechanism is hardly far fetched. But I just liked the key.

To be fair, they did sort of cover that with a bit of handwavarium during Utopia:

Quote:
“CREET: Anyone? Kistane and Beltone Shafe Cane? Anyone know the Shafe Cane family? Anyone called Shafe Cane?
MARTHA: It's like a refugee camp.
JACK: Stinking. Oh, sorry. No offence. Not you.
DOCTOR: Don't you see that? The ripe old smell of humans. You survived. Oh, you might have spent a million years evolving into clouds of gas, and another million as downloads, but you always revert to the same basic shape. The fundamental humans.”

Anyway, as for my minor irritations - most of the children (with the exception, ironically, of the one who played Creet in Utopia) have been just awful. Having bad actors in the show really pulls me out of the moment, no matter their age!

Here's one that surfaced for me today:

In classic Who where everyone refers to the female characters as 'girls'. "Bring me the girl!" "Leave the girl alone!"

Such lazy, casually sexist (I know it was of its time) dialogue.

You actually thought that the little lad who played Creet was good ?

I agree that Creet wasn't any good- but he did win his part in a Blue Peter competition. Anyway, I think the girl from The Silence of the Library was quite good- compared to the others that is of course

The fact that Matt Smith's Doctor has spent almost the same length of time in his most recent incarnation than all his other incarnations combined irritates me slightly. Even more annoying is that over half of this time occurred over the course of 20 minutes in one episode.

That's nowhere near as annoying as the whole of the established history of the Silurians. None of it makes any sense whatsoever.
Dinosaur and humans never coexisted, dinosaurs didn't live in the Silurian or the Eocene, humans didn't live in the Silurian or the Eocene and the moon was formed before any life on Earth evolved.

Of the kids, he was one of the more natural actors. The others (especially Chloe and the one in Night Terrors) were forced performances. Or just not even trying...

That 11 stole his clothes from someone in a hospital (who'll probably be annoyed when they recover or even just get off shift if it was an actual Doctor's clothes he stole...) and never gave them back despite switching outfits eventually.

(Was kinda hoping that 11s final scenes would have him returning to that hospital/ledworth to return those clothes he stole.
Would've been a better way to shoehorn in an Amy appearance than have his magic memories appear in the Tardis, TBH. )

I'm not sure if you're referring to actual quotes but if it was about the companions then most of them were girls, as in (sometimes very) young women. What did you want them to be called?

Well it wouldn't be the first time The Doctor stole clothes from a hospital is it? He did it in Spearhead From Space, he also stole a car from there as well(at least he gave it back though) He also off course stole his TARDIS, so if there's a minor irritation to be had it's that The Doctor is a thief and doesn't set a good example to others!

Not so much an irritation as it doesn't bother me at all. But its minor and strange. Rewatching Time of Angels and every so often they add this whoosh effect whenever someone moves their torch beam. Which is kinda neat if nonsensical but they only seem to randomly use it.

I just assumed that was an 'anticipation' sound effect relating what the beam of light may suddenly reveal rather than it actually being connected directly to a torch beam.

Maybe they could use their names?
