Hi, thanks for the suggestion but we did that and on the plane it was still inaudible. We tried with different headphones too.

I am quite deaf and find that on a hudl2, with headphones plugged in, it is absolutely impossible to hear the sound. on iPlayer, YouTube or ITPlayer.
I have installed an app. - speaker boost - and turned up the volume to absolute maximum, all to no effect.
Using VLC player for Android to play downloaded videos, such as a movie or TV show, I have managed to get round the problem by using VLC's native equaliser to boost levels so I can hear the content.
It sees that Android volume boosting apps do not work on proprietary players as used by the broadcasters.

Has anyone tried a headphone amplifier specifically on iPlayer /YouTube/ITV Player ?

I should mention that even on my laptop I struggle to hear content from the above providers - it must be a deliberate policy of reducing volume to meet EU rules on audio safety.

Try a Bluetooth speaker.
